Over its five years of operation, City of Basketball Love has become more than just the area's top source for high school and college basketball news and analysis in the greater Philadelphia region. It's also become a training ground for the next generation of sports journalists, with dozens of high school and college students working with us every day.
CoBL writers get on-the-job training and mentorship from the get-go, whether they've been writing for several years or are getting into sports journalism for the first time. New writers learn to be better journalists by accompanying our more experienced staffers to games, getting stories edited and critiqued, conducting interviews, and learning to use social media and alternative platforms in a professional setting. We are flexible with writers' schedules; whether our writers are available one day a week or four, they still receive the same instruction and attention for whatever they write.
If you're interested in writing for CoBL -- as we are always looking for writers -- send our editor, Josh Verlin, an email at email@example.com. Please include a resumé and writing examples. As we said, no prior sports journalism experience required!
