Strengths: The big man for Roman Catholic is about a year away from where he needs to be if he decides to work on his skill set this summer. He has a okay left hand shooting touch which he can knock down from time to time. Good rebounder when ball is in his area, not bad for a big when he decides to put the ball on the floor and drive.
Weakness: Needs better conditioning. Has to learn to stay out of foul trouble. Has to develop some low post moves, scoring over both shoulders. Needs better footwork, and a consistent mid range jump shot.
Overall: Right now, Newman is a little raw but has time to develop as better big man. He projects as a low Division I or strong Division II player. If he can get better out of the post and consistently knock down the elbow jump shot, he would be a clear-cut D-I prospect.
