This event was originally supposed to take place on New Year’s Eve, but some snowy conditions pushed it back more than a month.

It should be a good one with plenty of teams who are contenders in their respective leagues. Here is the schedule and our breakdown of the matchups:

~~~
Schedule
Bishop Shanahan vs Malvern Prep (1:00 PM)
Archbishop Wood vs Lincoln (2:45 PM)
Timber Creek (N.J.) vs. Westtown School (4:30 PM)
Neumann-Goretti vs Plymouth-Whitemarsh (6:15 PM)
Bishop Shanahan vs Malvern Prep
Following an opening-night loss to Plymouth-Whitemarsh, Bishop Shanahan has won 16 of 17 games and leads the Ches-Mont National. Malvern Prep is currently second place in the Inter-Ac at 6-1 in the conference, trailing Haverford School by a game. A strong senior class headlined by forward Kevin Dodds and guard David Angelo have been the steady hands as the Eagles close in on a Ches-Mont playoff run. As for the Friars, they have been stricken by the injury bug and could be without seniors Billy Corcoran and Brady Devereaux, leaving them without a senior on the team. The battle between Angelo and Friars’ sophomore guard Deuce Turner should be one to keep an eye on throughout.
Archbishop Wood vs Lincoln
Coming off a Philadelphia Catholic League championship last season, Archbishop Wood is 5-3 thus far in the PCL, heading into a matchup with Bishop McDevitt on Friday night. Lincoln is tied with Sankofa for first place in the Public League’s ‘B’ division with a 10-1 league record. The Vikings have multiple Division I talents, including Tyree Pickron (Quinnipiac) and Andrew Funk (Bucknell). Pickron recently scored 32 points against West Catholic. Wood has a towering front court with 6-foot-11 center Seth Pinkney and 6-foot-7 forward Karrington Wallace. Freshman guard is also turning Rahsool Diggins is also turning into a star. The Rail Splitters have gotten a boost from 6-foot-6 wing Tyree Corbett, who transferred from Frankford in mid-December. He’s part of a strong senior class which includes Shikier Morrison, Khalif Mears and Jahi Randall.
Timber Creek (N.J.) vs. Westtown School
Westtown (19-12) has lost two tough ones in its last two times out. The Moose lost an overtime game to Massanutten Military Academy last weekend and then dropped a double overtime to the Peddie School on Tuesday. Westtown is led by Duke commit Cam Reddish, ESPN’s No. 3 team in the country and Indiana commit Jake Forrester, a 6-foot-9 forward. Guards Jalen Gaffney (6-3) and TJ Berger (6-2) are talented passers and capable shooters. Sophomore Noah Collier, a 6-foot-8 stretch forward, rounds out the starting lineup. Timber Creek is 13-3 this season and one of the top teams in South Jersey. Leading Timber Creek is a group of four seniors, including Maurice Murray, a 6-foot-6 wing with some Division I interest, and Isaiah Sanders, a 6-foot-4 guard committed to play in the Division II level at Notre Dame College (Ohio). Seniors Ricky Martin and Dylan Elliott are two others to keep an eye on.
Neumann-Goretti vs Plymouth-Whitemarsh
Two of the hottest teams in the area this year, Neumann-Goretti and Plymouth-Whitemarsh will matchup in one of the most anticipated games this season. The Saints (8-1, 15-3) are tied with Bonner-Prendergast for first place in the Catholic League, and are first in the PIAA 4A rankings. 6-3 senior and recent Holy Family University commit Dymir Montague is scoring 14.3 points per game, and his classmate Noah Warren averages 13. The most important player for N-G will be 6-9 senior Marcus Littles. Littles will be tasked with guarding Plymouth-Whitemarsh’s 7-foot-3 junior Naheem McLeod. McLeod has been the go-to-guy for the Colonials (18-0) this year, doing pretty much all of his damage at the rim. Twins Ahmin and Ahmad Williams have scored in bunches, and Ish Horn is improving every game. The Colonials rank number one in PIAA 6A classification, and don’t be surprised to see both these teams hoisting a trophy in Hershey at the end of the year.
