There were several high-profile games played in the first annual Diane Mosco Foundation Shootout held at Archbishop Wood.

Here’s our staff’s picks for standouts on the day:

--

Justin Anderson (2018/ Archbishop Carroll)

The Patriots were without one of their biggest weapons in AJ Hoggard. Anderson did all he could to pick up the slack, scoring a team high 16 points and grabbing four boards. While Anderson wasn’t the most aggressive player on the floor, he scored at an extremely efficient clip, going 7 for 10 from the field. The 6-3 guard only missed one shot from inside the three point line. Anderson did the majority of his scoring late, totaling 11 in the second half.

Josh Arruda (2018/Pennsbury)

While teammate Collin Connor led the Falcons in scoring (18 points) in their loss to Coatesville, Arruda played like a senior leader in multiple ways. First, he posted a state line of 10 points, five rebounds, two assists and five steals. His and-one late in the third cut the Red Raiders lead to 30-23 and helped spur Pennsbury’s late, third-quarter run. Despite the loss, Arruda was constantly getting his teammates fired up and never looked phased when Coatesville appeared to be pulling away.

Eric Dixon (2019/Abington)

The 6-7 big man scored from all over the floor on Saturday, finishing with 25 points to lead the Galloping Ghosts. Dixon showed off his versatility, scoring in the paint and in the mid-range. The smooth lefty played a key role in defending Bethlehem Catholic’s big man and Northwestern commit, Ryan Young. He didn’t find the bottom of the net to often in the first quarter, but got hot in the second, scoring nine points.

Alan Glover (2018/Plymouth Whitemarsh)

While Archbishop Carroll chose to back the paint and force the Colonials’ perimeter players to beat them, Glover took advantage early and often. The 6-4 senior forward scored eight of Plymouth Whitemarsh’s first 14 points including two three-pointers. He finished with 16 points, six rebounds and two steals. After suffering a torn MCL last season, which kept him out for the entire year and also injuring his ankle in August which put the beginning of his senior season in jeopardy, Glover has bounced back and become a viable option on the Colonials starting lineup.

Zahree Harrison (2020/Cheltenham)

Harrison came alive in the second half, as he attempted to rescue the Panthers from a sluggish first half. With Cheltenham down 10 at the break, Harrison went off for 16 points in the final two quarters. He came out firing right out of halftime, hitting consecutive threes to bring his team within six. The sophomore was the Panthers’ best offensive player on the night as Ahmad Bickley struggled with foul trouble for most of the afternoon. The former Archbishop Wood guard played in his former gym, feeling right at home from both the paint and beyond the arc.

Marcus Littles (2018/Neumann-Goretti)

Littles dominated the interior for the Saints Saturday afternoon, using his big body to rack up points in the paint and rebounds. He finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds, including 10 and seven in the opening half. The George Washington commit also registered three blocks defensively, altering many more, especially as opposing guards Ahmad Bickley and Zahree Harrison attacked the rim. With his 6-9, 260-pound frame, Littles managed to assert himself at both ends even as the pace became hectic.

Naheem McLeod (2019/Plymouth Whitemarsh)

The Colonials managed to keep Archbishop Carroll at arms length for the entirety of their contest thanks in large part to a big day from their biggest player. The 7-2 junior used his imposing frame to bully his way into second chance opportunities. He finished with 12 rebounds to go along with his 14 points. McLeod certainly has room to improve in his game -- he went 0 for 5 from the free throw line -- but it’s difficult to replicate the gravity that he creates when his teammates find him down low. He also did his job on the other side, tallying four blocks.

Lucas Monroe (2019/Abington)

Monroe made a big statement right from the opening tip Saturday vs Bethlehem Catholic. First, he stole a pass at mid-court, finishing it with a slam dunk to open the scoring. A few possessions later, the junior guard caught a backdoor pass, slamming home yet another dunk. At the other end, moments later, Monroe shined again as he blocked an incoming layup into the backboard. After setting the tone early, the future Division I guard finished with 22 points in Abington’s 10 point win. Monroe displayed his ability to both shoot the three, find open teammates, and aggressively attack the basket all afternoon.

Seth Pinkney (2018/Archbishop Wood)

Pinkney brought the partisan Archbishop Wood crowd into a frenzy in the final game of the night with his slam dunk in the final minute against Shipley. His dunk was the final lead change of the night, and it was two of his 11 points on the night. The senior spent most of his night above the rim, as he tallied three dunks, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. Down the stretch, his presence in the middle made it difficult for the Shipley offense to penetrate the paint and attack the basket directly.

Sam Sessoms (2018/Shipley)

Sessoms continued his hot start on Saturday night against Archbishop Wood, scoring 23 points in the loss. The 5-10 senior was finding the bottom of the net with ease. His quickness of the dribble allowed him to get into the paint and finish over the massive frontline of Wood. The Binghamton commit, who’s known for scoring in bunches, also did quite a big of passing in the paint, dumping the ball of for easy dunks by big man Ray Somerville.
