With March approaching quickly and the college basketball season more than halfway over, five local college players made their mark in the respective conferences and earned a spot on the weekly awards lists.

Josh Hart (Villanova/Sr.)
Hart was a star for Villanova in its 2-0 week. In the Wildcats’ two wins over Seton Hall and Providence, the 6-foot-5 guard who was recently named to the National Player of the Year Midseason Watch List averaged 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per contest and was named Big East Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season. Highlighting Hart’s week for the No. 1 ranked Wildcats was his performance against Providence, where the Silver Spring, Md. native cashed in for a game-high of 25 points in front of a sold out crowd at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday afternoon.

Ryan Daly (Delaware/Fr.)
The Archbishop Carroll grad continued his phenomenal freshman season this week as he averaged 24 points and 6.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Blue Hens. Daly’s week was highlighted by a 27-points, six-rebound performance in a win over Northeastern and the 6-foot-4 guard also shot 8-of-13 from beyond the arc for the week. Daly’s strong week earned him a spot in the Delaware record books as he was named Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, tying a Blue Hen record.

Charlie Brown (Saint Joseph’s/Fr.)
Although his Hawks dropped one of their two contests this week, that didn’t stop Brown from impressing this week. After a solid performance of 11 points, six rebounds, and two blocks in a loss to UMass, Brown’s best was still in store. The freshman guard from Philadelphia was unstoppable in Saturday night’s victory over Penn as he finished with career-highs in both points, with 19, and rebounds, with nine. Brown’s stellar week earned him Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season.

Shizz Alston Jr. (Temple/So.)
Although Temple lost its only contest of the week on the road against No. 20 Cincinnati, Alston made his presence felt. The Haverford School graduate tied his career-high with 25 points, dished out six assists, and snatched a career-best five steals and was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll.

Matt Howard (Penn/Sr.)
Howard was a force to be reckoned with in Penn’s lone game this week. Despite the Quakers’ loss to St. Joe’s on Saturday night, Howard was still good enough in the game to make it onto the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll. The 6-foot-4 guard cashed in for 19 points, reeled in 12 rebounds, dished out three assists and tallied two assists in the 78-71 defeat.
