La Salle ended its 10-game losing skid and picked up its second Atlantic 10 victory of the season on Wednesday night, beating St. Bonaventure, 71-64. Jordan Price had 18 points in the win, and he and Tony Washington both had double-doubles.
At first…
The Explorers jumped on the Bonnies straightaway, scoring the game’s first six points and building an 11-2 lead before the first media timeout. La Salle hit a trio of 3-pointers in the game’s first three minutes, two of which came from Price.
Turning point…
The Explorers held the Bonnies without a field goal for a six-minute stretch in the second half, going on a 12-5 run in this span. The spurt and solid defense allowed La Salle to build a 59-54 lead, one the team would not relinquish the rest of the way.
Shining stars…
Price, who played all 40 minutes, went 5-for-15 from the floor and also hit all six of his free throws. Washington, meanwhile, scored 10 points and pulled in 12 boards – a game-high as the Explorers outrebounded the Bonnies, 41-27.
Noteworthy numbers…
La Salle is 2-11 in the A-10, but those two wins (St. Bonaventure and Dayton) have come against teams with a combined 20-6 league mark. …La Salle knocked down half of its 22 3-point attempts. Cleon Roberts and Johnnie Shuler both hit three 3-pointers apiece.
