Saint Joseph's carried its momentum from a win over Rhode Island on the road down to George Mason, picking up an 87-73 victory over the Patriots.

At First…
The Hawks jumped out to an early lead after they were jumpstarted by a three-pointer from Papa Ndao. His shot initiated a 16-6 run for the Hawks. The Patriots would battle back, coming within a point of the lead, but could not even the score in the first half. A 12-2 St. Joe’s run pushed the lead to 13 points. The Hawks were led in the first half by Isaiah Miles’ 16 points.

Turning Point…
The Patriots appeared to have some juice to start the second half, embarking on a 9-0 run to start, but the Hawks kept the Patriots at arm's’ length with runs of their own. A three-pointer from James Demery capped off an 11-3 run for the Hawks that extended their lead to 13 points.

Standout Stars…
Miles - the Hawks’ senior forward from Baltimore, Maryland - led them in scoring and rebounding with 26 points and 10 rebounds. DeAndre Bembry had 16 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, while Demery scored in double-digits off the bench for the fourth time in his last five games with 11 points.

For the Patriots, junior guard Marquise Moore led his team with 21 points and seven rebounds. Freshman guard Otis Livingston, a Linden (N.J.) grad, had 14 points and four assists.

Noteworthy Numbers…
Coming into this game, the Hawks were one of the best defensive teams in the A-10 and led the conference in defensive field goal percentage by allowing their previous opponents to shoot just 39 percent from the floor.

But in this one the Patriots were better than average, and shot 46.6 percent from the floor. Their demise would be sending the Hawks to the free throw line 30 times, where they hit 24 shots.
