This past week, John Giannini and La Salle were able to add height to their future roster as 7-foot-1 center Cian Sullivan committed to the Explorers, according to Kevin McNamara of the Providence Journal.

Sullivan is a bit of an intriguing commitment for La Salle, as the 19-year-old hails from Ireland. Sullivan just recently moved to the United States, as the center will play for St. Andrews in Rhode Island this season. The Saints boast a plethora of Division I talent and compete in the very rigorous New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC).

According to The Providence Journal, Sullivan is expected to redshirt next season for the Explorers before using his four years of eligibility in West Philadelphia. He is also expected to sign his National Letter of Intent on November 11 during the early period.

Per the report, La Salle visited Sullivan twice in the past few weeks to see the Western Ireland native play pickup games. The 7-footer is seen as a “a project, but one that's worth the risk,” St. Andrews coach Mike Hart told the paper. Hart said that Sullivan “owns a good shooting touch but lacks the strength to make a big impact in college right now.”

Sullivan reportedly garnered attention of multiple Division I schools, however La Salle was “not going to wait until the spring to make a decision on a scholarship offer.”

Sullivan is the Explorers’ first commitment in the Class of 2016, but La Salle fans will likely have to wait until 2017 to see the 7-foot-1 center in action
