Austin Harriott is headed to the Patriot League.

The Hun School (N.J.) rising senior guard announced that he had made his college decision via Twitter on Saturday night, committing to Loyola (Md.) and head coach G.G. Smith.

Harriott, a 6-foot-4 guard transferred to the Jersey prep school before his junior season, spending two years at Germantown Friends prior to that. Originally a member of the 2015 class, he spent the 2011-12 year at Boys' Latin as a freshman before heading to GFS.

The athletic combo guard is best with the ball in his hands, where he’ll attack the basket relentlessly, and his muscular frame makes him a capable defender on the perimeter. If he can become a more consistent jump shooter, he could be a real steal for the Greyhounds.

It’s the second local commitment of the year for Smith, who also has a verbal pledge from Friends’ Central (Pa.) guard Chuck Champion, a sharpshooting 6-0 guard who can play the ‘1’ or the ‘2.’

Smith is entering his third season at Loyola (Md.), the same amount of time that the program has been in the Patriot League after leaving the MAAC in 2013. He's 22-38 in that time, including a 13-23 record in league play.
