Add another name to the ever-growing list of players La Salle head coach John Giannini brings to 20th and Olney via transfer.

In March, La Salle added Syracuse transfer and Lower Merion grad B.J. Johnson. And last night the Explorers added a player to sit along the bench with Johnson while they sit out their mandated one season because of transferring.

Memphis guard RaShawn "Pookie" Powell chose La Salle as his transfer destination over IUPUI.

Powell, a 6-foot-1 point guard, averaged 4.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in 15.4 minutes of action per night.

Coming out of Dr. Phillips High School and the Florida Assault AAU program, Powell, a top-100 recruit, had a list of scholarship offers that included Virginia, Seton Hall, Penn State, Illinois, Virginia Tech, Miami and more.

The Orlando, Fla., native is the latest to transfer to La Salle from a "high-major" program, joining a list that includes Jordan Price (Auburn), Earl Pettis (Rutgers), Tyrone Garland (Virginia Tech), Ramon Galloway (South Carolina) and Johnson.

Powell will be eligible in the 2016-17 season and will provide depth to a backcourt that will include then-seniors Jordan Price and Cleon Roberts and juniors Amar StukesJohnnie Shuler and Johnson.

CoBL will have more on this story later.
