Germantown Friends School’s Jamil and Jalil Pines-Elliot have been playing by each other’s sides for years and the twins are going to continue causing defenders to see double as they have both chosen to play for Division III Elizabethtown (Pa.).

“Its great that I’ll be able to play alongside my brother for another four years,” Jalil Pines-Elliot said. “Elizabethtown is a great college and I think that coach [Bob] Schlosser is a great coach. He has a very good program there and I know my brother and I will be able to contribute right away.”

Elizabethtown is a member of the Landmark Conference and went 8-16 this past season. This includes a 6-10 conference record after starting the season at 6-3 in conference play.

“Obviously having a key role on the team is very important to us, so we feel like we can fit in well,” Jamil said. “But the academic side is equally important. We’re not just going there to play basketball, we are going to get a great education. Elizabethtown is a great school and I feel like I can make an impact in whatever I do.”

The two led Germantown Friends to an impressive 21-5 record this past season which included a run to the Friends’ League championship game. Their high school careers culminated in a loss to Levan Alston and Haverford School in the first round of the PAISAA playoffs.

“Jamil and Jalil are two extremely hard-working players that will bring energy, great attitudes, high basketball IQ, and a winning pedigree to the Etown program,” Germantown coach Shawn Werdt said. “Off the court, the boys are strong students that will represent the program well in the classroom.”

Elizabethtown is about 90 miles northwest of Philadelphia and the two twins will continue to play basketball side-by-side, just as they have throughout their lives.

“No matter what happens, I know that my brother will always be there for me,” Jalil Pines-Elliot said. “And we will be ready to play when our names are called.”
