GLENSIDE >> For a second straight year, a mid-January snowstorm had an unwanted impact on the Hoops for Hope Classic.
While two games were unable to be played due to the weather, the other five of the 19th annual event were able to be contested. Haverford, Archbishop Carroll, Notre Dame, Lansdale Catholic and Plymouth Whitemarsh came away with wins inside Arcadia’ Kuch Center as snow fell throughout most of the day outside.
There were plenty of notable performances throughout the day. Here’s a rundown of the standouts:
Addison Adamski (2028 | Garnet Valley)
It wasn’t the Jaguars’ day for three quarters but they didn’t give up. Adamski was an embodiment of that, the sophomore competing to the last whistle and leading an energetic fourth quarter effort with 10 of her 16 points coming in the final frame. She made four threes in total and was all over the floor defensively as GV made a push over the final few minutes.
Kayden Baratta (2026 | Phoenixville)
In a game where points were tough to come by for stretches, Baratta picked up the Phantoms a couple times on her way to 16 points. The senior went from zero to eight real fast to conclude the first quarter and had a five-point burst in the third. Baratta also plays passing lanes well and the Wesleyan recruit came up with four steals against Haverford.
Riley Davis (2027 | Notre Dame)
Davis saved her best for last, scoring seven of her 15 points in the fourth quarter against Archbishop Wood that felt like a heavyweight fight. The junior guard had to take some tough shots against Wood’s defense and found much of her success getting to the basket and going up strong. Davis did make one three and it was a vital one, tying the score late to set up a fantastic finish. She also chipped in with two assists and posted two steals and a block defensively in a game where stops mattered.
Alexis Eberz (2026 | Archbishop Carroll)
Carroll came out scorching against Germantown Academy, largely following the lead of an eight-point first quarter by Eberz. The Villanova-bound senior only scored in the first and third quarters but that was more than enough time to compile 20 points. Eberz also mixed in a handful of assists as the Patriots used their constant motion on offense to create quality looks.
Allie Esposito (2027 | Lansdale Catholic)
Half of the Crusaders’ Allie-Ali duo, Esposito was hitting her shots well with LC in a groove the first three quarters against Garnet Valley. Esposito finished with 16 points, including a trio of three-pointers and got to the line a couple times to boot. The junior added eight rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block in an all-around solid effort.
Maura Gilroy (2026 | Haverford)
Swarmed on just about every touch, the Scranton recruit got off to a slow start shooting the ball but didn’t let that affect her performance. Gilroy finished strong by making four of her last five shots and ended with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. The 6-foot-2 post was also a defensive presence as usual with four blocks and two steals as the Fords locked up late to get the win.
Notre Dame's Grace Nasr had 16 points, including the game-winner, against Archbishop Wood on Sunday.
Ali Katenbacher (2027 | Lansdale Catholic)
The other half of LC’s Ali-Allie duo, “Ali K” was a model of efficiency putting up 19 points on 9-of-10 shooting against Garnet Valley. The 5-foot-10 forward had a couple trademark putbacks but she also made herself available inside and went up with confidence on every touch. She even showed off her flag football skills breaking loose on a long touchdown layup from Esposito. Kaltenbacher also hit the glass hard with 10 rebounds while adding two assists and three blocks.
Abbie McFillin (2027 | Archbishop Carroll)
The junior guard had a nice personal fan section Sunday with a sizable group of the McFillin/Westfield clan in the bleachers as she put on a show. McFillin posted 22 points, again showing she’s still a plenty capable scorer on top of her duties running the point for the Patriots. Against GA, she did a lot of damage attacking the rim but also knocked down a couple of threes as Carroll came out firing and never slowed down.
Grace Maloney (2028 | Haverford)
The sophomore saved her best for last, scoring 10 of her career-high 19 points in the fourth quarter as the Fords rallied from a deficit to win the opener. Maloney was money at the stripe, going 8-of-9 from the free throw line including a perfect 7-of-7 fourth quarter. The point guard got the fourth started off right, drawing a foul shooting a three then hitting one clean to lead the Fords’ go-ahead run. On top of the offense, Maloney also chipped in four rebounds and two assists while providing her usual energy on defense.
JJ Miros (2027 | Mount Saint Joseph Academy)
Miros had a modest six points but the Magic were a different team with her on the floor in the second half against PW. The 5-foot-10 junior brought energy and intensity, moving her feet and using her length to be disruptive on defense while giving her team a lift. Miros’ effort stood out, the forward collecting five rebounds, three assists and a steal and she was named the Mount’s player of the game.
Grace Nasr (2027 | Notre Dame)
Nasr’s putback with less than a second left gave the Irish an exciting win over Archbishop Wood and the 6-foot-3 post did plenty more. The junior had a game-high 16 points, seven coming in the first quarter when offense was at a premium and seven more in the third to help her team withstand a Wood barrage. Nasr’s presence inside was noticeable and while the Vikings schemed well to pull her away from the rim, she was able to get the game’s biggest rebound and finish.
Zoey Whalen (2028 | Archbishop Wood)
Whalen had a nice game in Wood’s PCL win on Friday and put together a strong showing against the Inter-Ac’s top squad on Sunday. The sophomore wing was the catalyst in Wood’s third quarter surge, scoring eight of her team-high 13 points in the quarter. One of four sophomores in Wood’s rotation, Whalen is an all-around player, showing it with five rebounds, two assists and a block in back-and-forth game while looking to take some big shots.
Kenna Winland (2026 | Plymouth Whitemarsh)
Winland is fine with being the distributor for the Colonials but she does like to prove she can be a finisher too. The senior led PW with 14 points, all of them coming on finishes at the rim or the foul line, in a hard-fought win over Mount Saint Joseph. Winland was still able to set her teammates up too, making two assists and she didn’t get flustered by the Mount’s quick-moving defense.
