The third and final day of Philly Live’s second weekend of 2023 brought a ton of talent to the courts at St. Joe's Prep, all four courts running from until late in the evening. CoBL was able to take in much of the action over the course of the day and evening; here’s who stood out to our writers in the games we were able to watch:

Aasim Burton (2024 | Cardinal O’Hara)
Burton and his squad were locked into a battle with the exciting Rutgers Prep on Sunday. While they would ultimately come up just short, it was Burton who set the tone and the pace offensively for O’Hara. A player who always seems under control and is rarely sped up, Burton utilized change of pace excellently to consistently get into the paint and create for his teammates, with several flashy assists in the game. Finishing with 16 points, he also showcased an impressive isolation game as was able to create separation with his dribble before pulling up for a jumper either from three or the mid range. It came down to the last possession for O’Hara and it was no secret who was going to take that shot as Burton had a shot from deep to tie it but unfortunately it rimmed out and his team would fall.

Tye Dorset (2024 | Lenape, N.J.)
Dorset's minutes on the floor consisted of one splash play after another. The 6-4 wing caused pure havoc on defense at the point-of-attack. He pressured the ball to force turnovers or outright get the steal himself before saying through the air for transition dunks. Even off-ball, he jammed up the offense's actions every time he was at the nail or brought into ball-screens. His athleticism was just as evident in the half court. He didn't need much of a runway to take off on the defense. Dorset's slashing and shot-makimg netted him 30 points versus Downingtown West and 19 against Coatesville with Merrimack sitting courtside, receiving an offer after the game.

Amon Fowlkes, 2024 Coatesville

Amon Fowlkes (2025 | Coatesville)
A well-balanced Coatesville attack was important in the Raiders’ victory over Lenape to close Sunday’s action. Fowlkes had some big buckets late as the 6-foot guard finished with 12 points. Fowlkes darts toward the bucket and finished a number of tough looks at the rim, and got the line twice (4-for-4). He was very communicative on the defensive end as well, making sure he and his teammates stayed engaged.

Jahaan Green (2024 | Camden Eastside N.J.)
Green brought the intensity and efficiency for Eastside versus St. Andrew's. He led all scorers with 23 points simply by knowing where to be off-ball and playing hard. Finding the openings in the zone, Green sank a couple treys early on. Later on, he capitalized on Eastside's ball-movement by perfectly timing his cuts to and duck-ins around the basket. His knack for getting such high-percentage shots and create turnovers on defense helped wear St. Andrew's down in the second half.

Justin Hinds (2024 | Salesianum, Del.)
As intriguing as any other prospect in the gym, Hinds flirted with a double-double versus Archbishop Carroll (13 points, 8 boards & 2 steals) before sealing the deal with one versus Cardinal O'Hara (16 points, 10 boards & 6 assists). Standing 6-6, he maximized his fluidity and leaping ability as a lob threat and by getting second-chance baskets. His talent was equally enticing in the open floor. Whether he just pulled down a defensive rebound or got a steal, Hinds initiated their transition offense with precision passes down the court. The two-way wing made his presence felt at every level of the defense too. He effectively guarded anyone and everyone on the perimeter and blanketed bigger players in the post, where he convincingly won each matchup

Malik Hughes, 2026 Cheltenham

Malik Hughes (2026 | Cheltenham)
If Hughes could get a roll, his impressive 19-point outing may have looked even more dominant with about five shots just not going way. The 6-5 wing still showcased an inside and outside game that was big in a win over Edison. He’s good good looking jumper to stretch the floor but wasn’t afraid to get physical inside as well — maybe learning something from older teammate Kamani Healy. He can put the ball on the deck and has some impressive athleticism, going up for a fastbreak slam.

Robbie “RJ” Johnson (2025 | Salesianum, Del.)
While his high flying teammates receive plenty of attention and rightfully so, Johnson quietly churned out an extremely productive weekend. While he may be a tad undersized at 6 '6 for the F/C position where he resided most of the day, he plays much bigger than his height thanks to his big strong frame. With his frame, it’s no surprise he excels on the football field as well. On the court Sunday, he dominated the smaller front line of Archbishop Carroll. Finishing with 15 points on the day, Johnson was relentless on the glass, snatching boards left and right as well as blocking several shots on defense. Carroll was unable to deal Johnson’s size and athleticism inside and he made sure to take full advantage as the Sallies rolled to a 74-53 win.

Deuce Ketner (2024 | Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast)
Ketner is a highlight reel waiting to happen. At 6’6, he is an extremely fluid athlete who likes to attack the basket. He was consistently able to get by his defender and finish at the rim, finishing with 18 points in a narrow victory over Newark Arts. His athleticism was also on full display on the defensive end and on the glass as he is an aggressive rebounder. The signature highlight of the night was an incredible chasedown block just minutes after a thunderous transition dunk. While shooting will certainly be an area of improvement for Ketner, he was able to show off some touch from deep, knocking in one three.

Andrew Kretkowski (2027 | Rutgers Prep)
Kretkowski and the young guns of Rutgers Prep were at it again with another electric performance. Kretkowsi once again led the way as he came out on fire, scoring all of his 17 points in the first half, including three 3-pointers from all around the arc. While he was quiet offensively in the second half, it would prove to be enough as Prep managed to escape with a three point victory. The buzz around this kid seems to be growing by the game, and if he and his teammates keep putting in well rounded performances like this, it’s not going to slow down anytime soon.

Nyle Ralph-Beyer, 2024 West Chester Henderson

Nyle Ralph-Beyer (2024 | West Chester Henderson)
With 28 of his 34 points versus Trenton Catholic coming in the first half, Ralph-Beyer did his work early. His jumper was money from the jump. He popped two middies before expanding his range to the three point line. Every bucket he got was in rhythm or unforced when he created for himself. Ralph-Beyer showed he could catch-and-rip going right or left to get into the lane, then finish with touch at the rim or get to the charity stripe. It didn't matter who was in front of him. Ralph-Beyer played within himself and got exactly what he wanted, including 5 assists and 3 rebounds before sitting most of the second half.

Jahseir Sayles (2024 | Plymouth Whitemarsh)
Both PW and Arts would likely like to throw away any video of evidence of Sunday afternoon’s rock fight, but Sayles helped the Colonials grit out a win. He finished with 19 points, doing most of his damage at the line, including a few big ones late. The 6-5 wing chipped in on the glass and the defensive interior as well as PW kept Arts in the 30s. He knocked down a three in the game as well and when he is stretching the floor effectively PW is at its best.

Mason Thear (2025 | Perkiomen Valley)
Thear, Kyle Shawaluk and Julian Sadler all had their moments as the Vikings put together a strong performance to take down Edison (Va.) late during Sunday’s action. Thear finished with 22 points to lead the offensive charge. He can hit from deep as shown from his two threes the 5-11 guard has enough athleticism to make tough shots when he gets to the rim as well. He pumped and put the ball on the floor to pull-up or attack. He’s quick on the defensive end as well, racking up quite a few steals to get the Vikings moving the other way.

Kareem Thomas (2024 | Salesianum, Del.)
Thomas started the day and each game exactly how he finished them. He balanced playing off of his teammates with asserting himself on the offensive end, scoring 20 points against Archbishop Carroll, then 21 against Cardinal O'Hara. The 6 '5 guard was a problem attacking off the catch because all he needed was an ounce of space and a split second to slice his way to the basket. On the other end of the floor, he was just as active. His length bothered opposing guards because they couldn't get clean looks and he used to block a few shots. Thomas put his stamp on both games, proving to be the best player on the court each time.
