The 2nd annual Speedy Morris Classic was supposed to be a two-night affair, but the impending “weather bomb” going to envelope the US on Friday made it so that Thursday’s four games were the only part of the event. The boy/girl quadruple header saw both of Penn Charter’s teams play, along with those from Central, Bartram and Simon Gratz on the boys’ side; Imhotep, Cardinal O’Hara and Abington on the girls’.

Central 67, Bartram 59
Cardinal O’Hara 55, Imhotep 20
Penn Charter 71, Simon Gratz 28
Abington 68, Penn Charter 63

Here’s a few standouts from the evening:

Ryan Carter (2027 | Penn Charter)
It’s hard to believe that Carter hasn’t yet started high school, as the 8th grader was the most impressive player on the floor for the Quakers, who have a couple committed Division I seniors in Aleah Snead (St. Joe’s) and Bella Toomey (FDU). A 5-foot-10 guard with long arms, Carter can play all three perimeter positions, with a strong handle as well as ability to score inside, and she proved she’s a big-time shooter by knocking down a couple clutch late ones to keep PC in it. Crafty around the rim, she scored several tough buckets inside, and can knock down pull-up jumpers too. No wonder high-majors have already offered.

Lateef Lorenzo-White (2026 | Bartram)
The 6-4 left-hander started his day off by hitting one tough bucket off the glass around a couple defenders, then did it again and again, from odd distances and angles, showing some real natural touch and creativity. He kept it up all game long, hitting a couple 3-pointers and another long jumper or two to show his range, and handled the ball well throughout; adding nine rebounds, he was the clear best offensive player on Bartram, and a pretty versatile defender as well. He finished with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting (2-2 3PT, 4-5 FT).

Sizwe Morris-Louis (2023 | Central)
Certainly the award winner for Stat Sheet Stuffer on the day, Central’s 5-7 lead guard was all over the place, finishing with 11 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists and nine steals, coming oh-so-close to a quadruple double — especially considering he had eight of those steals in the first half. Morris-Louis was really active on the glass, including grabbing a few on the offensive end, but it was his quick hands and pestering defensive nature that really stood out, along with his passing abilities and court vision to find shooters.

Joanie Quinn (2024 | Cardinal O’Hara)
Speaking of defenders with quick hands, Quinn paced the O’Hara defense with six steals against Imhotep Charter — picking off passes, poking it out of opponents’ hands, and once just snatching it right out of a Panthers’ players grasp. The 5-8 junior finished with 12 points, six steals, four assists and two rebounds, able to get by her defender and feed her teammates, though she also had quite a few layups of her own creation, not all of which were in the open court, when she tended to be more of a facilitator.

Molly Rullo (2025 | Cardinal O’Hara)
Certainly the beneficiary of a bit of Quinn’s steals and assists was Rullo, who had herself a night in the big win. Rullo hit mid-range jumpers, scored around the bucket, knocked down a couple 3-pointers and created off the bounce, going 11-of-14 from the floor (2-3 3PT), with four steals, three rebounds and two assists. The 5-10 wing guard already has six Division I offers and she’s certain to see more as she continues her strong level of play.

Kai Shinholster (2025 | Penn Charter)
Penn Charter’s big win over Simon Gratz featured 12 scorers, as the entire Quaker rotation (and then some) contributed, but Shinholster did enough in his minutes to merit inclusion here, finishing with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting, the only member of his team in double figures. Shinholster opened the scoring with a corner 3-pointer, one of two triples he hit, but showed how much he’s improved his assertiveness and aggression over the last year with no hesitation on his jumpers or drives, keeping the ball moving if a shot wasn’t there, and adding in three steals as well; he’s also starting to fill out his frame and get stronger, and that bodes well for him into his upperclassman years.

Bella Toomey (2023 | Penn Charter)
A wing forward who likes to operate from the outside-in, Toomey worked her way to a 20-point outing in the loss to Abington, getting most of her production at or around the rim. She’s got a nice mid-range jumper, and excels at the stick-back, always in good positioning for offensive rebounds and wasting no time getting the ball back up through the hoop; she had a good number of her seven rebounds on the offensive end. Skilled with the ball in her hands, the 6-0 FDU commit can also lead the break and cuts well off passes, getting a few layups that way as well, and she’s not afraid to throw her body around after loose balls.

Cire Worley (2023 | Abington)
Somewhat similar to Toomey, Worley is a 6-0 combo forward who really excels around the rim, hitting a number of tough, contested layups, including one she threw in almost backwards over her heard, but the UMass-Lowell commit can also stretch the floor, knocking down a couple 3s as well. On an undersized Abington squad, Worley’s a much-needed two-way presence inside, grabbing bunches of rebounds on both ends, though her offensive game is starting to resemble that of a big guard more than a forward who can also handle it outside.

Honorable Mention
Mark Butler (2023 | Penn Charter), Bridget Dawson (2023 | Cardinal O’Hara), Jabrelle Dennison (Simon Gratz), Maya Johnson (2025 | Abington), Yahmir Knight-Parker (2026 | Central), Joseph McCutchen (2025 | Bartram), Colin Schumm (2023 | Penn Charter), Piper McGinley (2024 | Abington), Jordyn Reynolds (2024 | Abington), Aleah Snead (2023 | Penn Charter), Sa’mya Stevens (2023 | Imhotep Charter)
