A quartet of City 6 teams were in action on Monday night, though none of them were local — Penn’s women are on a two-game West Coast swing, the Drexel men are in Florida for one tournament while St. Joe’s men are in Daytona Beach for another, and Temple’s up in New York City for a pair of evening contests against high-major competition.

Here’s a roundup of Monday’s local Division I games:

WBB: San Francisco 73, Penn 65

The Quakers saw a double-digit halftime lead evaporate in the third quarter as the first part of their two-game West Coast trip ended in defeat. Penn led 37-27 at halftime before the Dons outscored the Quakers, 23-12, in the third quarter to go up 50-49 heading into the final period of play. Jordan Obi’s three with 1:43 pulled Penn within a possession, 68-65, but the Quakers didn’t score the rest of the game. Kayla Padilla had 14 points (6-for-17) and six boards and Obi added nine points and eight boards in the loss. San Francisco’s Ioanna Krimili poured in 35 points, including eight threes, to lead USF.

MBB: Drexel 59, UT Arlington 38

Coletrane Washington’s 22 points paced the Dragons (3-1) to an opening round win in the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fl. Drexel held a 29-25 before outscoring the Mavericks by 17 in the second half. Lamar Oden Jr. added 16 points and six boards. Amari Williams had a well-rounded effort, chipping in 10 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal. Washington knocked down six threes as the Dragons hit 10 total as a team. Drexel will take on host Florida Gulf Coast, an 82-61 winner over Northern Kentucky in the semifinals on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

MBB: Georgia 66, Saint Joseph’s 53

A solid second half for St. Joe’s wasn’t enough to make up for an atrocious first one, as the Hawks dropped to 2-2 on the season at the Sunshine Slam. The Hawks scored just 15 points in the first half, shooting 7-of-32 while missing all eight of their 3-point attempts and going just 1-of-5 from the line; a 38-point second half still wasn’t enough to get the deficit down any lower than eight, and St. Joe’s never really threatened. Cameron Brown, Erik Reynolds and Ejike Obinna all had 10 points for St. Joe’s, which got out-rebounded 45-32 and shot just 2-of-16 from 3-point range. The Hawks face South Florida on Tuesday in the consolation game.

MBB: St. John’s 78, Temple 72

The Owls had their chances late against the Red Storm, but turnovers cost Temple as Aaron McKie’s squad dropped to 2-3 on its early roller-coaster of a season. Temple went up 72-70 with 1:32 left on a Zach Hicks 3-pointer but didn’t score again, turning it over on a crucial possession with 53 seconds left, then coming up empty on a few contested 3-point shots in the final 30 seconds. Temple turned it over 21 times overall, including six from Damian Dunn; Jamille Reynolds led the way with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Dunn and Hicks added 11 each. The Owls will face Richmond in Tuesday night’s consolation game.
