ROYERSFORD — The inaugural CoBL Fall Classic, presented by Spring-Ford, went off without a hitch on Saturday, with 13 games played across two courts at Spring-Ford High School. The CoBL staff was on hand as some of the top talent from Southeastern Pennsylvania and beyond took to the courts, with some ultra-competitive games going on throughout the day.

Here’s our staff picks for standouts from Saturday’s action:

Anna Azzarra (2024 | Spring-Ford)

Azzara, a third-team all-state guard last season as a sophomore,  was one of the most active and engaged on the ball defenders on the court Saturday afternoon. She left her mark on all facets of the game; setting the table for her teammates to score, pressing up on their perimeter threats, and attacking the offensive glass. Azzara was also able to find gaps in the opponent's defense and slash to the basket, creating offense for the Rams outside of the natural flow of their offense. Azzara led the Rams with 14 points and chipped in a handful of assists, steals and rebounds as well to lead a comeback in an overtime loss to Wood to start her day.  She added a double-figure outing later on as well.

Kaylan Deveney (2023 | Shawnee, N.J.)
The 6-foot-3 forward scored 12 points, collected nine rebounds and blocked three shots in a win over Audenried. She knocked down a pair of free throws late to give her team the lead, which they managed to hold onto. Deveney didn’t knock down any 3-point shot, but she flashed a nice looking stroke from beyond the 3-point line, in the midrange and at the foul line. Her willingness/ability to slide outside at times helped open the paint for fellow forward Nia Scott. Deveney has good hands and her teammates were able to find her inside a few times as well to take advantage of her height. The forward is a difference maker on the defensive end as well as she can block shots without fouling and is active on the glass.

Allie Fleming (2023 | Archbishop Wood)
Sophomore Emily Knouse (15 points) had the hot hand for the Vikings in the early parts of Saturday’s game against Spring-Ford, but the 5-5 senior guard Fleming was the spark for them late in the overtime win over the Rams. Fleming scored all 13 of her points after halftime, including a pair of threes. The last of the long balls was the game-winner for Wood in OT. The lethal lefty has range that extends a few feet beyond the arc, and she can get off her shot quick. She also got to the basket a handful of times, even finishing through contact for an and-one.

Lizzie Halligan (2024 | Notre Dame)
The 5-9 wing stood out as the best player on the floor as an aggressive downhill threat in Saturday’s win over Faith Christian. She curls off of screens, dives hard to the bucket and drives with a purpose for the Irish. Halligan is very active as a rebounder, which creates additional scoring opportunities for herself and her team. Halligan is also consistently near the ball on 50-50 balls, and more times than not coming out the winner. With the ball in her hands, Halligan is very capable of leading the break for the Irish and finding an open teammate or cashing in herself in transition.

Kara Meredith (2023 | Archbishop Wood)
The Vikings are going to need scorers to step up in the absence of Ryanne Allen (Vanderbilt) and Bri Bowen (Delaware), and on Saturday afternoon in a win over Methacton, it was Meredith who stepped up and led the way with 14 points. The 6-0 wing and Holy Family commit is a strong outside shooter who knows when to pick her spots and get her feet set, and rarely gets rushed or off-tempo; she also had a 3-point play on a good take and showed an improved ability overall to put the ball on the floor.

Meg Robbins (2023 | Spring-Ford)
It was apparent Robbins had taken strides in her game when we last saw her with the Lehigh Valley Fever this summer. On Saturday, it was once again evident that her game is trending upward. Robbins, a recent Elizabethtown College commit,  scored a team-high 12 points and grabbed nine boards in an overtime loss to Archbishop Wood. She got some easy looks as a roller, but also displayed some impressive post moves to create good looks for herself, including a turnaround jumper in the post. She also tallied a handful of blocks throughout the day, anchoring the back line of the Rams’ defense.

Shayla Smith (2025 | Audenried Charter)
Smith, who already has a Delaware State offer and several other D-I programs interested, combined for 50 points in two games on Saturday. Her day started with a 20-point, five-round and five-steal performance. That was only the warm-up. Smith got hot from deep in a 30-point outing against Carroll, making six threes and rounding out her statline with four steals, seven rebounds and two assists. She knocked down contested shot after contested shot off the bounce in and outside the arc to wow the spectators in the gym at Spring-Ford.  She also used her strength and quickness to finish through traffic inside. As highlighted by her steal and rebound totals, she plays incredibly hard, which materializes in winning plays for her team.

Samya Stevens (2023 | Imhotep Charter)
The lone senior on an Imhotep squad looking to defend its two consecutive Public League titles, Stevens is the team’s leader and the focal point of the offense. A 5-9 wing, she is a versatile offensive scorer who can create for herself, get to the basket and finish with strength. Stevens is also a capable and willing passer, looking to involve the rest of a young Panthers core.

Sofia Vitucci (2024 | Pennsbury)
A senior guard, Vitucci brings the most to the floor with her shot-making ability. Look no further than her performance on Saturday afternoon as she buried pull-up jumper after pull-up jumper in consecutive wins. Vitucci dropped 22 points in a win over Spring-Ford, then followed it up with 17 in a victory over Notre Dame, making her final seven shots from the floor. In addition to the mid-range shooting, the ball-handler distributed well, hit shots from deep and finished with touch inside, a positive sign for a Pennsbury team that intends to be a Suburban One contender.

Brooke Wilson (2024 | Archbishop Carroll)
It was a good day for the Patriots and especially so for the Wilson sisters, as will become quite clear over the next couple of paragraphs. Brooke, the younger of the two and a 5-9 guard, sliced and diced her way through the Methacton defense to begin the shootout, coming up with 14 points in the 43-24 victory. Wilson’s excellent in the lane, getting defenders off their feet and using change-of-speeds to finish in crafty ways with both hands, though she capped her scoring with a pull-up 3-pointer; she’s also a strong rebounder who doesn’t give up on plays. Fordham, Monmouth, St. Joe’s, Drexel, Lafayette, Holy Cross, Loyola (Md.) and Providence have all offered, and she just visited Providence and Holy Cross earlier this week.

Taylor Wilson (2023 | Archbishop Carroll)
Wilson, who committed to Army over the summer, helped will her team to a comeback overtime win on Saturday. After leading the comeback charge, she hit the game winning 3-point shot in overtime. Wilson finished with 22 points, getting nine of them from the foul line as the 6-foot forward forced the issue inside against an undersized Audenried squad. Wilson prides herself on her versatility and that was also on display in the contest. She knocked down a pair of threes early and added a few assists and rebounds as well. She has a really good feel for knowing what her team needs from her on both ends of the floor.
