Drexel unveiled its 2022-23 schedule on Tuesday, giving a glimpse at what lies ahead for the Dragons this season.

Coach Zach Spiker guided his team to 15-14 mark last season to give the program its first consecutive winning campaigns since 2010-11 and 2011-12 and just the third winning campaign total in the past 10 seasons..

In his seventh season at Drexel, Spiker will have to find a way to replace his three top scorers in order to put together another solid campaign.

The Dragons open their season against Old Dominion on Nov. 11. It’s Drexel’s first meeting with the Monarchs since they departed from the CAA to Conference USA after the 2012-13 season. The Dragons follow with home games against Penn (Nov. 15) and Division III Arcadia (Nov. 18). Drexel hasn’t faced Penn since 2016.

Spiker and his team then head to the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla. from Nov.21-23, opening against UT Arlington. The eight-team tournament field also includes Toledo, Kansas City, East Carolina, Indiana State, Northern Kentucky and the host team Florida Gulf Coast.

Drexel won’t have to leave the city in its next four games. The Dragons travel to Temple (Nov. 27), host Lafayette (Nov. 30) and Princeton (Dec. 3), then visit La Salle (Dec. 10). Drexel lost an overtime contest against the Tigers last season and had City 6 contests with the Owls and Explorers canceled. It was the first time in seven seasons Drexel didn’t face the Explorers.

The Dragons travel to Seton Hall on Dec. 14 for their first meeting against the Pirates since 2004. They finish their home non-conference slate against Delaware State on Dec. 17 before wrapping up their non-conference schedule Dec. 22 at Fairfield

Drexel finished fourth in the CAA at 8-10 last season. The league will have a new-look in 2022-23 with Hampton, Stony Brook, Monmouth and North Carolina A&T joining the conference. The Dragons’ 18-game CAA slate includes home and away matchups with Elon, Towson, Monmouth, Hampton, Northeastern and Delaware and single matchups with the other six schools.

Drexel begins its conference schedule in the DAC against Elon (Dec. 29) and William & Mary (Dec. 31). The Dragons have split the regular-season series with the Tribe in seven of the past eight years, with the exception coming in 2018-19 when Drexel lost both matchups.

The Dragons go on the road Jan. 5 to face Towson, which finished tied atop the CAA regular-season standings last season, before returning home  Jan. 7 to host Monmouth, previously a consistent contender in the MAAC. The potentially challenging stretch continues Jan. 12 on the road against Stony Brook, which finished second in the America East in three of its final six seasons in the league.

Drexel continues on the road Jan. 14 at Northeastern before home games against Hampton (Jan. 19) and Delaware (Jan. 21), last season’s CAA tournament champion. Drexel then travels to North Carolina A&T (Jan. 26) and Elon (Jan. 28).

The schedule has the Dragons at home Feb. 2 against College of Charleston then back on the road at Monmouth (Feb. 4) and at Delaware (Feb. 8) before returning home against Towson (Feb. 11) as part of another difficult stretch.

Drexel travels to Hofstra (Feb. 13) then hosts UNC-Wilimington in the teams’ only meeting Feb.16. The Seahawks finished tied with Towson atop the CAA regular-season standings last season. The Dragons conclude at Hampton (Feb. 18) and home against Northeastern (Feb. 23).

Junior forward Amari Williams (9.5 ppg, 7.3 ppg) is Drexel’s top returning scorer. He ranked fourth on the team in scoring and first in rebounding last season. Fifth-year guard Coletrane Washington (6.5 ppg) and senior forward Mate Okros (5.6 ppg) both started 15-or-more games last season as well.

Dragons’ junior forward/guard Lamar Oden Jr., who averaged 15.5 mpg in 27 games, is the only other returning member of the rotation. Senior guard Luke House (Archbishop Carroll), junior guard Dean Wang (Friends Select) and sophomore forward Terrence Butler played sparingly last season.

Drexel adds junior guard Jamie Bergens, who played limited minutes in 23 games during two seasons at Oral Roberts. Sophomore guard Yame Butler transfers in from State Fair Community College. The Dragons’ freshman class includes forwards Cole Hargrove (Methacton) and Garfield Turner and guards Justin Moore (Archbishop Wood), Shane Blakeney and Kobe Magee.
