CoBL’s fall shootout is back, and it’s better than ever.

The sixth annual — with some years off in between — City of Basketball Love Interstate Shootout will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Sep. 18 & 19, at the Friends’ Central School.

Both days begin at 9:00 AM and end around 8:00 PM, with 12 sets of games on all three courts. As always, all games will be Pennsylvania vs. New Jersey/Delaware opponents, with our first-ever Empire State school making an appearance as well.

Here are all the schools taking part:

Pennsylvania
Abington, Academy New Church, Archbishop Carroll,  Archbishop Wood, Avon Grove, Bensalem, Bethlehem Catholic, Cardinal O'Hara, Cedar Cliff, Central Bucks East, Chester, Conestoga, Constitution, Council Rock South, Devon Prep, Downingtown West, Father Judge, Friends' Central, George School, Haverford High, Imhotep Charter, Lower Merion, Math Civics & Sciences, Neshaminy, Neumann-Goretti, Parkland, Pennsbury, Phelps School, Phoenixville, Pocono Mt. West, Pope John Paul II, Radnor, Roman Catholic, Sankofa Freedom, SCH Academy, West Catholic

New Jersey/New York/Delaware (NJ unless otherwise noted)
Appoquinimink, Arts HS, Bergen Catholic, Bishop Eustace, Brick Memorial, Caravel Academy (Del.), Cherokee, Cherry Hill East, DePaul HS, Don Bosco Prep, Dwight Englewood, Eastern, Egg Harbor Twp., Gill St. Bernard, Haddonfield, Iona Prep (N.Y.), Lenape, Life Center, Manasquan, Marlboro, Mendham, Montgomery, Olympus Prep, Overbrook, Payne Tech, Pemberton, Poly Tech (Del.), Rutgers Prep, Salesianum School (Del.), Sanford School (Del.), St. Augustine Prep, St. Elizabeth (Del.), St. Joe's-Hammonton, St. Joe's-Metuchen, St. Peter's Prep, Watchung Hills

It’s a field loaded with some of the best teams from either side of the Delaware River, with hundreds of future college basketball players at all levels taking to the courts for a pair of games over the course of the weekend.

There’s too many standouts to name them all here, including the typical local powerhouses (Imhotep, Neumann-Goretti, Roman Catholic, Archbishop Wood), on-the-rise programs (West Catholic, SCH Academy, George School, Academy New Church), perennial conference contenders (Abington, Archbishop Carroll, Chester, Conestoga, Lower Merion, Parkland, Phoenixville, PJP II), and plenty more quality programs from the Keystone State alone.

The ‘visitors’ side is equally loaded. A few out-of-area players and teams to be aware of:

  • Gill St. Bernard figures to be in the mix for the Tournament of Champions (ToC) title in New Jersey next spring, as Mergin Sina’s roster boasts top-10 prospects in both 2023 (6-8 small forward Mackenzie Mgbako) and 2024 (6-7 wing Naas Cunningham), plus senior guard Denver Anglin, a sharpshooting Georgetown commit. And look out for 2025 guard Peter Mauro, who already holds a Seton Hall offer before playing his first high school game.

  • Bergen Catholic is another program that’ll be in the mix for best in New Jersey, thanks to a stellar backcourt. Senior guard Will Richardson has offers from A-10, AAC, ACC, Pac-12 schools and more, while sophomore Elliot Cadeau is an electric 6-2 point guard with offers from Providence, Seton Hall, UMass and more already.

  • St. Peter’s Prep features an incoming Big 5 player in Villanova commit Mark Armstrong; the versatile, athletic 6-2 point guard is ranked No. 42 in the country by Rivals and is a consensus four-star prospect amongst the major recruiting services. The Marauders also feature a pair of 6-6 junior wings, Jackson Tindall and Matthew Kinsler.

  • Rutgers Prep has had a strong offseason thanks to a deep and versatile group of guards, with head coach Matt Bloom rotating in five or six different ball-handlers and scorers over the course of any given game. The biggest names to know are senior guard Ryan Pettit, a hustle specialist who’s got all sorts of scholarship-level programs on his tail, while junior guard Jadin Collins has had a breakthrough summer scoring the rock, pulling in offers from MAAC, CAA and A-10 programs during June and July.

That’s all before mentioning Lenape’s Derek Simpson, a Rutgers commit, or Pocono Mt. West big man Christian Fermin (VCU), or the Phelps School’s high-level roster, and so much more.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, there will be no outside spectators allowed. College coaches and select scouts/media will be allowed in, with proof of vaccination.

Scouts/media, please email us at cityofbasketballlove@gmail.com if you wish to attend.
