As CoBL has grown, one of the most significant changes to our organization has been the addition of camps, clinics, and team events. Over the years, it’s something that I’ve generally handled, in addition to all my other duties with the site: mentoring our staff, writing and editing stories, etc. But as we enter this new phase and as we continue to grow our operation quicker than expected, it’s become clear that we need to expand our staff in a new and exciting direction.

Therefore, I’m happy to announce that....

CoBL is searching for an Events Director.

We are looking for someone who will take the incredible foundation we’ve built with our events and run with it. Since our first CoBL College Exposure Camp in 2014, we’ve had thousands of high school athletes wearing CoBL Camp jerseys, along with hundreds of high school teams who have participated in our annual Pa. vs. N.J. Shootout.

For the last several years, Jason Ritter has been a tremendous asset as our Camp Director, overseeing our day-of-operations and helping us promote our events despite also fulfilling several other duties inside and out of basketball. As he transitions his support to a role on our Board of Directors, he will be assisting in the search and helping us find his successor.

This will be a part-time position with a monthly salary and incentives, with the opportunity for it to become a full-time position as we continue to grow.

Our Events Director will be responsible for both planning and executing our various in-season and off-season events, with support from the rest of the CoBL staff. This will include coordinating with venues and setting camp dates; hiring coaches, trainers, staff and referees; working with our marketing staff to develop marketing materials; camp promotion and recruitment; and day-of oversight of camps and events, as well as outreach to the basketball community.

The perfect candidate for this job will be someone with a background in basketball, with a knowledge of the Philadelphia-area high school and grassroots scene strongly preferred. They’ll be a hard worker who loves being around the game and making connections, with strong organizational and communications skills, as well as the ability to make decisions, work well with others, and contribute to the positive attitude in the CoBL ‘workplace’ (AKA Slack channel).

Because we need someone who can build relationships and help run our camps year-round, this job might not be the right fit for coaches who wish to remain with a high school or college team, or AAU program. We are looking for someone who’s willing to make CoBL their only basketball affiliation, and who is dedicated to helping grow that side of our organization.

Those interested: email us (cityofbasketballlove@gmail.com) with an introduction and resume.
