The first St. Joe's Prep game after the announcement that William "Speedy" Morris was retiring at the end of the season went the Hawks' favor, a strong outside shooting display keying a 66-49 win.

Look for a story about Morris' retirement and the Hawks' response coming out tomorrow; here are a few thoughts and notes about the game, with a photo gallery below.

–– Prep got a fantastic performance from senior guard Trevor Wall, who the Patriots could not stop from getting to the hoop. Wall got almost all of his 24 points right around the rim, shooting 10-of-15 from the and 4-of-6 from the foul line. He also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, dished out four assists, and grabbed three steals. Wall said afterwards he's been hearing from New Hampshire and Delaware.

–– While Wall was the standout, the rest of the Prep starters (Morris doesn't go into his bench for more than a minute or two) all chipped in considerably. Senior guard Mike Keenan had 16 points, including four 3-pointers, with three rebounds and three steals; senior forward Chris Arizin scored 13 points on seven shots and grabbed eight rebounds; senior guard Brian Geatens chipped in all of his nine points in the second half; junior guard Jimmy King had five points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

–– The most heralded prospect in the gym, the one Villanova coach Jay Wright and an assistant were at Jefferson to see, was Germantown Academy junior Jordan Longino. Longino, a 6-4 off-guard, led the Patriots with 19 points, but it wasn't the best shooting night for the talented scorer, who was 8-of-23 overall, including 0-for-9 from 3-point range. He did have several terrific passes as part of his six assists and grabbed four rebounds, but he should have been able to get to the line more often (1-3 FT) against a Prep squad that didn't have anybody who could really match his athleticism and physicality on the perimeter.
