Strengths: Blessed with almost unlimited upside, there isn't an area in which Bamba isn't somewhat proficient. He's incredibly long and athletic, which makes him a force around the rim on both ends of the court, as both an elite rim-proctor and someone who can gobble up rebounds and clean up for his teammates. His motor is always running at a high level, and he thrives when going up against other top big men in his class. And despite his long, lanky frame, he moves very well, with a smooth jump shot that he's very comfortable using from 3-point range. Oh, and he's an Ivy League-caliber student.
Weaknesses: The biggest thing Bamba needs to work on is adding muscle to his frame; at 210 pounds now, he could easily add another 15-20 pounds to his frame. That will help him finish everything around the rim; he sometimes can get out-muscled against other elite forwards.
Overall: One of the top prospects in the country, Bamba has "NBA" written all over his future, with a chance to be a special player in that league. His physical gifts put him in a place few young athletes can reach, and he's got the work ethic and mentality necessary to succeed at the highest level. Like most 17-year-olds he's far from a polished product, but his ceiling is still immensely high.
