Strengths: Very good on the ball, both offensively and defensively, Sharkey packs a lot of punch for his frame. The point guard has an excellent handle and can break down an opposing defense by getting into the lane and scoring through the trees, dishing off to a big man or kicking out to a shooter. Excellent on the break, where he can utilize his quickness and court vision. Plus defender as well, puts great pressure on opposing ball-handlers, with quick hands and feet.
Weaknesses: Needs to continue to work on improving his ability to get off a shot in a tighter space; his release has gotten quicker but still isn’t as fast as it needs to be. Can try to be too creative and dribble himself into trouble.
Overall: His size will scare some schools away, but Sharkey is certainly a Division I prospect who plays the game hard on both ends of the floor. If he continues to get stronger and improves his shooting, he could be a solid mid-major point guard by the time he gets to college and ready to contribute right away.
