Strengths: Plus 3-point shooter who knows how to find holes in opposing defenses and knock down shots, especially on the wing and in the corners. Allen has really worked on his body over the last 12 months, adding a lot of muscle to his frame, which has made him a better defender and rebounder from the perimeter.
Weaknesses: Struggles to score one-on-one against good defenders; will occasionally attack the rim but tends to look only for shots around the 3-point line. Needs to continue to work on his handle and develop a one-dribble pull-up, something to make a defender respect his shot-fake.
Overall: A high-level shooter with a solid body and the ability to guard multiple positions, Allen certainly pushed himself into mid-major Division I territory with a very solid July. Though he doesn’t create his own shot well enough to be a high-major guard, he has a chance to be a breakout player in college if he works on that part of his game due to his physique and the other intangibles he brings to the table.
