Dylan Painter

Scouting Report

Strengths: Painter has grown to the point where he’s a legitimate high-major prospect, with his size and advanced offensive game. Averaged a double-double during his junior year at Hershey thanks to his ability to score in a variety of ways from within 10 feet, with the ability to put the ball on the floor and utilize a drop-step or a spin move and hook shot to find the rim. He’s also got the ability to step out and knock down a 3-point shot, though it’s not his bread-and-butter. Not afraid to challenge opponents at the rim, either.

Weaknesses: Painter is still largely unproven against other high-level post players, given he comes out of an area that doesn’t often produce forwards of his size and skill level. Still needs to get a more reliable pick-and-pop game to help free space.

Overall: While he might not be destined for the blue-blood programs, Painter has developed into a very promising mid-plus to high-major forward prospect thanks to his ability to play tough in the post on both ends and stretch the floor with his shooting ability. Would be an impact player right away at the mid-plus level, and should be a steady improving contributor at the high-major level.
