This week, we’ll be taking a look at the local AAU programs whose players will be drawing the attention of quite a few college coaches over the next two weekends, which constitute the April Live Periods.

Earlier this week, we looked at the five main programs in the Philadelphia area, but those are by no means the only five that will draw Division I coaches to their sidelines in search of local prospects.

Here’s a look at several other area 17U teams to watch this summer:

East Coast Power
Roster
David Angelo (2018/Bishop Shanahan, Pa.)
Greg Barton (2018/Downingtown West, Pa.)
Kevin Dodds (2018/Bishop Shanahan, Pa.)
Cooper Driscoll (2018/Strath Haven, Pa.)
Aidan Ellwood (2018/Northampton, Pa.)
Jerry Kapp (2018/Boyertown, Pa.)
Collin MacAdams (2018/Central Bucks West, Pa.)
Stuart McAvoy (2018/Downingtown West, Pa.)
Colin Phillips (2018/Episcopal Academy, Pa.)
Jake Reese (2018/Downingtown West, Pa.)
Charlie Schappell (2018/Conestoga, Pa.)

Breakdown
Based out of Competitive Edge Sports in King of Prussia, this group has plenty of high school teammates from the Ches-Mont, Suburban One and Pioneer Athletic Conferences (plus one Inter-Ac student-athlete), which should give them an edge in the chemistry department. The most likely Division I prospect on the team is MacAdams, a versatile 6-5 wing who doesn’t do any one thing spectacularly but does a lot of things well. Kapp, a 6-3 shooting guard with deep range, put up a ton of points during his junior year at Boyertown, while Barton is an under-the-radar athletic 6-4 wing who could get a low-major look or two. Plenty of great small-college products, from the Shanahan duo of point guard Angelo and 6-6 Dodds to the 6-5 Driscoll and 6-8 McAvoy as well.

Hoopdreamz
Roster
Pietro Berghalla (2018/Germantown Friends)
Tamir Green (2018/TBD)
Robbie Heath (2018/Abington, Pa.)
Arion Lewis (2018/Valley Forge Military Ac., Pa.)
Khalif Meares (2018/Lincoln, Pa.)
Akello Moseby (2018/Eng. & Sciences, Pa.)
Colin Reed (2019/Archbishop Ryan, Pa.)
Scott Spann (2019/Sankofa Freedom, Pa.)
Matthew Wasco (2018/Lincoln, Pa.)

Breakdown
Head coach Jon Michels doesn’t have a high-major target like he did last year in Clifton Moore (Hatboro-Horsham/Indiana), but he’s got three guards in the backcourt who are chasing Division I hopes. Green (5-11) is a speedy guard with Philly toughness; Heath (6-2) is a three-year starter who can shoot it from the outside as well as get to the lane and score; Lewis (6-3) is the best 3-point shooter of the bunch with good length and athleticism. All three will certainly be scholarship guards at some level, though they each need to show consistently strong play and the ability to limit mistakes as well as guard D-I guards to earn what they’re hoping for. Mears, a 6-3 wing, played on the 17U circuit last year, while the 6-7 Berghalla and 6-7 Moseby add size inside.

Jersey Shore 17U Blue
Paul Brown
(2018/Salesianum, Del.)
Ahmad Bickley (2018/Cheltenham, Pa.)
Austin Crafts (2017/Middle Township, N.J.) -- 6-6 PF
Dominic Dunn (2018/Camden Catholic, N.J.)
Jake Dunn (2018/Monsignor Farrell, N.Y.) -- 6-0 G
Dylan Elliott (2018/Timber Creek, N.J.) -- 6-1 SG *hurt for now*ather.co
Austin Laughlin (2018/Garnet Valley, Pa.)
Dominick London (2018/Octorara, Pa.) -- 6-1 SG
Matt McMahon (2018/La Salle College HS, Pa.) -- 5-11 SG
Devin Nicholson (2018/St. Joe’s By the Sea, N.Y.) -- 6-2 SG
Mason Williams (2018/Penn Charter, Pa.)
David Rodriguez (2018/Doane Academy, N.J.)

Breakdown
Jersey Shore's 'B' team is always stocked with top-tier small-college prospects, and this year's iteration is right in line. Laughlin is one of the top scorers in the Philadelphia burbs, as the 6-2 guard is a terrific jump-shooter from all over the court, rising up and making tough pull-ups even with a hand in his face, and he's got a half-court buzzer-beater to his name as well. Dunn is a physical 6-4 wing who could conceivably play all five positions for a high-level Division III program, but he's scholarship-level quality as a versatile '3'/'4'. Bickley is a speedy 5-9 point guard with a great mid-range game, which makes him even tougher to guard as he gets to the hoop. Brown (6-7) is a lefty forward who exhibits skills of a '3', '4' and '5' with a nice hook shot, the ability to put the ball on the floor and guard multiple positions. There's also Williams, an athletic 6-4 wing guard who looks Division I quality when he's on his game, plus Rodriguez, a 6-8 big from New Jersey who gives them some brawn up front.

Team Final Black
Roster
Shawn Bowman (2018/Howard HS, Del.)
Michael Davie (2018/Chichester, Pa.)
Harrison Eichelberger (2018/Westtown School, Pa.)
Da’Quan Granberry (2018/Chichester, Pa.)
Isaac LeCompte (2018/Design Lab, Del.)
Caleb Matthews (2018/Smyrna, Del.)
Jacob Hunt (2018/Brandywine, Del.)
Randy Rickards (2018/Cape Henlopen, Del.)
Jawan Roan (2018/Woodstown, N.J.)
Isaiah Sanders (2018/Timber Creek, N.J.)
Noah Warren (2018/Neumann-Goretti, Pa.)

Breakdown
The ‘B’ team of the Team Final program is always competitive on the Hoop Group circuit, and this year will be no exception -- this group proved that on Saturday, taking out the Jersey Shore Warriors’ 17s to start off the day. They’ve got a high-level scorer in Granberry, a 6-4 wing with some serious bounce who can get buckets from all three levels; Warren, a 5-11 lefty and sharpshooting guard, comes from one of the best programs around. Then there’s the typical collection of Delaware talent, including some of the best scorers in the state in Matthews, a 6-3 guard who helped lead Smyrna to the DIAA state title with a win over Caraval Prep, contributing 16 points and seven assists in the win; and Rickards, who went for 28 points and 11 rebounds in Henlopen’s first-round playoff win over Caesar Rodney. They’ve got five players on the roster that stand 6-6 or taller, including 6-8, 240-pound Davie.

York Ballers
Roster
D’Andre Davis (2018/York Catholic, Pa.)
Timmy Edwards (2017/Trinity, Pa.)
Adam Freese (2018/Kennard-Dale, Pa.)
Casey Jack (2019/Berks Catholic, Pa.)
Garrett Markey (2018/Central York, Pa.)
Melik Martin (2017/York Catholic, Pa.)
Brandon McGlynn (2018/Dallastown, Pa.)
Antonio Rizzuto (2018/Northeastern, Pa.)
John Wessel (2018/New Oxford, Pa.)

Breakdown
This group out of the central part of the state will be playing a lot of area events, and there’s several promising prospects in there. Rizzuto, a 6-2 guard, picked up scholarship offers from Albany and Stony Brook this summer and is likely to see quite a few more come his way when mid-majors see his shooting ability and athleticism on the ball; he was part of a Bobcats backcourt that only lost two games and made it to the PIAA 5A semifinals. Also on the Division I radar is McGlynn, though the 5-11 point guard with the sweet outside shot is just making his return from missing eight weeks due to a concussion. The two seniors who are playing during April, Martin (6-6) and Edwards (6-4) are both scholarship-level, with Martin an especially explosive combo forward who can really get going in transition; Markey and Jack -- the younger brother of former Berks Catholic stars Donovon (Penn State) and Connor (Flagler College) -- are talented scorers as well.
