Drexel picked up another key win to approve to .500 on the season, opening the month of December with a road victory over High Point, pulling away behind # Kari Jonsson three-pointers to win 78-72.

At First…
In the first four minutes, Drexel (4-4) came out of the gate firing, as they quickly opened up a 16-6 lead off of a Kari Jonsson three-pointer. High Point (4-4) quickly cut into the lead, but never led at any point in the first half, with the game’s closest margin being the halftime score. Drexel’s 32-25 lead with four minutes to go evaporated quickly, as the Panthers closed the half on a 10-3 run to get things all knotted at 35 entering the break.

Turning Point…
High Point’s run carried into the beginning of the second half, as the Panthers opened up the frame on an 8-2 run to quickly lead 43-37 within the first three minutes. Drexel, of course, had a response, scoring the next seven points to regain the lead.

The rest of the game ended up being airtight; neither team held a lead of more than three at any point in the remaining 15 minutes until Drexel began to take over late. After a Jonsson three gave his team a 60-58 lead with 6:55 to go, the Dragons scored seven more points in a row to lead by nine, capped by yet another bomb from Jonsson.

Tyshawn Myles gave Drexel a 69-61 lead that it would not relinquish with just a minute and a half remaining. A late three-point play and three-point shot by Miles Brown Jr. cut the Dragons' advantage to two in the final ten seconds, but it was too little too late as Drexel closed things out with a few late free throws.

Standout Stars...
Jonsson was absolutely white-hot from three-point range, going 7-of-12 for a team-high 25 points. Freshman Kurk Lee also had another strong performance, tallying 16 points and six rebounds.

As for High Point, the Panthers were led by a balanced scoring attack; their leading scorer, Miles Bowman Jr., finished the night with a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds. Jamal Wright also pitched in 12 points, four steals and three assists.

Noteworthy Numbers...
70: Jonsson's seven threes ended up accounting for 70 percent of the team's triples; Drexel made 10 of their 26 on the night, for a mark of 38.5 percent.

21: Drexel found a way to overcome 21 turnovers on the game despite only turning over their opponent 13 times. High Point scored 24 points off of those takeaways, but it wasn't enough to overcome

10: Neither team ever led by double-digits except for one point very early in the game – at the 16-minute mark, Drexel's lead was ten at 16-6.
