After a dominant performance in the second half, La Salle topped Bucknell by a score of 83-73 in an afternoon affair at Tom Gola Arena on Saturday.

At First…

With neither team being able to establish much dominance in the first half, Bucknell took a 44-42 lead into the half. After La Salle jumped out to an early 11-10 lead, Bucknell took over the remainder of the half and kept the upper hand on the Explorers until the intermission. Although they were behind, La Salle never faltered, as Bucknell’s lead never grew to more than five points. Lighting up the scoreboard in the first half was Bucknell sophomore guard Nate Jones, who scored 15 points in the first frame. For La Salle, it was Jordan Price and B.J. Johnson leading the way with 11 and 8, respectively.

Turning Point…

La Salle came out of the intermission on fire, as they went on a 6-0 run in the first 90 seconds of the second frame to take a 48-44 lead. From that point on, it was the Explorers’ ball game as they stayed hot and only saw their lead grow from there and never trailed again. Redshirt junior B.J. Johnson was a force in the second half for La Salle, scoring 14 points in the opening 8 minutes of the second half.

Standout Stars…

The duo of Jordan Price and B.J. Johnson torched Bucknell for a combined 42 points. Johnson finished with 22, also adding in 9 rebounds and Price chipped in for the remaining 20.

For Bucknell it was Nate Jones who did the most damage, as the sophomore guard finished with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including going 4-of-6 from deep.

Noteworthy Number…

11- The number of steals La Salle had in their win, their most in the young season.
