Despite hanging around for the first half and early in the second half, the Penn Quakers fell on the road at the hands of the talented Miami Hurricanes by a final tally of 74-62.

At First…
The Quakers (1-1) made it clear early on that they wouldn’t be shying away from the challenge of a road test against an ACC opponent, taking a quick 8-4 lead and never trailing by more than six points.

After Penn cut the lead to one late in the half, Miami (2-0) scored the final four points to lead 28-23 entering the break.

Turning Point…
Miami started the second half with a hot start, opening up its biggest lead at 41-29 and eventually as they slowly began to pull away from Penn.

For a while, it didn’t look like the Quakers were going away, but a 10-3 run by Miami that opened up their lead to 51-35, and from that point the Hurricanes were fully in the driver’s seat.

Standout Stars…
Freshman A.J. Brodeur continued to shine in just his second outing as a Quaker, dropping 16 points and snatching eight rebounds. Caleb Wood added 11 points in the defeat.

After a slow start, Neumann-Goretti alum Ja’Quan Newton ended up being Miami’s leading scorer with 18. Freshman Bruce Brown added 15 points and five rebounds for the 'Canes.

Noteworthy Numbers…
21: Penn struggled to take care of the ball – a very important facet of the game to control when trying to pull a road upset – committing 21 turnovers.

Up Next…
Penn (1-1) at Central Connecticut State, Tues., Nov. 22 @ 7:00 p.m.
