The Big 5 will be represented at this year’s Portsmouth Invitational.

Both Saint Joseph’s Isaiah Miles and Temple’s Quenton DeCosey will compete in the annual tournament for college seniors, held this week in front of dozens of NBA and foreign scouts. Miles and DeCosey were the respective scoring leaders for their teams in their fourth seasons, and both the Hawks and Owls made the NCAA Tournament.

Miles, a 6-foot-7 forward, averaged 18.4 points per game this season (up from 10.7 a season ago). He shot 52.8 percent from the field, 38.8 percent from beyond the 3-point arc, where he was 62-for-160 and Miles made 88.3 percent of his free throws -- the best mark in the Big 5. A slimmed down Miles (216 pounds) also grabbed 8.1 rebounds per game, up from his junior year average of 5.1.

Miles’ draft stock went way up in the last four months and even if he doesn’t hear his name called in June, the Baltimore native could still find his way onto an organization’s summer league team with a solid showing in the spring and at the NBA Draft combine. The same goes for DeCosey.

The guard averaged 15.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game for the regular season AAC champion Owls. A 6-foot-5, 205-pound shooting guard, DeCosey averaged 1.3 steals per game, a team best, and scored at least 20 points on 10 occasions.

The Portsmouth Invitational invites 64 of the best senior players in the country to a four-day, eight-team tournament in Virginia. Action tips off Wednesday night and wraps up Sunday.
