Archbishop Carroll senior Ryan Daly is back on the market.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard, who committed to Hartford head coach John Gallagher back in August, announced his decision on Thursday evening.

"After long consideration I have decided to open up my recruitment," he wrote in a post he shared on Twitter. "I want to thank Coach Gallagher and his staff at Hartford for recruiting me and wish them all the best in the future."

Daly, son of former Bonner and St. Joe's ballplayer Brian Daly, had a terrific senior year for Paul Romanczuk's Patriots, earning Catholic League MVP honors in leading the league with a 21.6 ppg scoring average.

As a team, Carroll made it to the semifinals of the Catholic League and second round of the PIAA Class AAA state tournament, finishing with a 23-4 record before Bishop McDevitt ended Daly's high school career on Tuesday night.

Once the season died down, he realized he needed to re-adjust his future plans.

"I just wasn't feeling the school in my heart as much as I was previously," he told CoBL via text.

Hartford is coming off a 10-23 season that saw the Hawks go 4-12 in America East play. That was the sixth season as head coach for Gallagher, who was previously an assistant at La Salle and Penn after playing under Phil Martelli at Saint Joseph's.

Tough and with good size for an off-guard, Daly is a volume scorer who finds ways to get his shot off in all sorts of situations, whether it's space on the perimeter to launch a 3-pointer or in the paint, where he'll use body and pump fakes to get his defender up in the air and draw contact.

Daly said "as of now" he plans on playing AAU basketball in April to see what opportunities are available.
