Coming off of a heartbreaking loss to Fordham, the A10’s last place La Salle Explorers bounced back to win their third league game of the season, holding off the George Mason Patriots by a final mark of 76-68.

At First…
Although they missed their first eight three-point attempts, La Salle got things going midway through the first half, taking a 17-16 lead on a triple by Price. His 13 first-half points would pace the Explorers, who ended the frame on a 13-3 run before a late hook shot by Mason forward Jalen Jenkins cut La Salle’s lead to 37-29 entering the break.

Turning Point…
In all reality, there were several spots in the second half that could have been turning points in George Mason’s favor, but each time the Patriots cut the La Salle lead, someone different was there to make the key basket for the Explorers.

A 10-2 run late in the second half would be enough to sew up a victory, as La Salle made the necessary plays down the stretch to preserve their lead.

Shining Stars…
Price was the hot hand throughout for the Explorers, as he led the way with 24 points on 8-of-17 shooting. Other key contributors for La Salle included Amar Stukes with 12 points and 6 boards, and Tony Washington with a near double-double performance of 8 points and 11 boards.

As for the George Mason, Otis Livingston II and Shevon Thompson were huge in keeping things close until late. While Livingston was the high scorer with 18 Thompson went for his own double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Noteworthy Numbers…
4: La Salle was very protective of the ball, only turning it over four times as opposed to 15 by George Mason.

Up Next…
La Salle (7-20, 3-13 A10) vs. Saint Louis (Mar. 2, 7:00 p.m.)
George Mason (10-18, 4-12 A10) @ George Washington (Mar. 1, 8:00 p.m.)
