After going down early, the Delaware Blue Hens rallied to take down the Drexel Dragons and earn their first CAA victory of the season, winning in front of the home crowd by a final score of 69-60.

At First…
Drexel opened up the night shooting very well to take an early 16-7 advantage behind a quick nine points from Sammy Mojica. That lead was stuck between 8 and 9 for a while, with Drexel leading 24-16 at the under-4 timeout.

To close out the half, however, the Hens ripped off an 8-0 run, shutting down the Dragons defensively and capitalizing on the offensive end to enter the break all tied at 24.

Turning Point…
UD rode its hot finish to the first half straight through the break and into the second frame, extending the run to 16-2. By the 12 minute mark, the Hens held their biggest lead of the game, up 45-37.

Drexel wasn’t ready to sit down just yet. They were able to tie it at 47 just three minutes later, and would trade baskets with the Blue Hens for the next several possessions, to have the game all knotted up at 51 entering the final eight minutes.

The Dragons would cut the lead to as few as two, but didn't seem to have that one extra shot to regain the lead in them.

Shining Stars…
Marvin King-Davis had an outstanding night for Delaware, leading the hens with 23 points and adding eight boards. King-Davis was also very efficient with his shot, making 63-percent of his field goals while going 9-of-14 from the charity stripe.

As for Drexel, Mojica ended up being the leading scorer with 16 points, 11 of which came in the opening half. All of his five field goals were from beyond the arc.

Noteworthy Numbers…
13: Neither team was able to really create many second-chance shots, combining for just thirteen offensive boards--ten of which were Drexel's. Drexel also had just ten second-chance points, compared to UD's three.
