DAVIDSON, N.C.--After hanging right with the Davidson Wildcats for thirteen-or-so minutes, the La Salle Explorers dropped their ninth straight loss--and sixteenth of the last seventeen--as the Wildcats ran away to a 79-66 home victory.

At First…
Despite never leading during the first thirteen minutes, the Explorers seemed to be going blow for blow with the favored Wildcats. After Yevgen Sakhniuk cut the Davidson lead to 20-19 around the 7:20 mark, that was pretty much the end of the La Salle magic.

Turning Point…
Following that basket, Davidson ripped off a quick 9-2 run to build their lead to double digits. Although the advantage would be just 38-31 at the break, things were already moving in the wrong direction for La Salle.

Less than two minutes into the second half, the Davidson lead went back above ten and would stay for the remainder of the game in its entirety.

Shining Stars…
Sakhniuk ended up leading the Explorers in scoring with 20 points off the bench. The team’s usual leader, Jordan Price, had 15 points, while also chipping in seven rebounds and 6 assists.

Billy Sullivan also had a nice night for Davidson, matching Sakhniuk for the game-high 20 points. He added seven assists.

Noteworthy Numbers…
10: Getting out-rebounded by ten certainly didn’t help La Salle try to overcome the Wildcats on the road. 20 of Davidson’s 28 boards came off the offensive glass.

Up Next…
La Salle (5-17, 1-10 A10) @ St. Joseph’s (Feb. 13, 8:00 p.m.)
Davidson (14-8, 6-5 A10) @ George Mason (Feb. 13, 4:00 p.m.)
