WASHINGTON, D.C.--Powered by a near double-double for Isaiah Miles, the St. Joseph’s Hawks went into the nation’s capital and took down a top tier Atlantic-10 foe, the George Washington Colonials, by a convincing final score of 84-66.

At First…
A hot start by the Hawks allowed them to jump out to an early 15-8 lead, a margin which remained steadily intact throughout the first frame. Miles had already dropped seven points in the first half, helping build a 39-32 lead for SJU at the break.

Turning Point…
Miles’ coming alive in the second half was essentially the key for St. Joe’s; he had 14 more points in the second frame.

Four baskets by he and DeAndre’ Bembry allowed the Hawks to open up a 70-53 advantage, which they would ride to the final buzzer.

Shining Stars…
Obviously, Miles led the way for St. Joe’s. He came within one rebound of a double-double, going for 21 points and nine boards. Bembry also chipped in 14 points.

In the losing effort, George Washington’s Tyler Cavanaugh led the way with 17 points and six rebounds.

Noteworthy Numbers…
56.7: The Hawks had an outstanding shooting performance, going 34-of-60 for a final cip of 56.7-percent. They also went 3-of-7 from three-point range.

5: SJU played a very clean game, turning the rock over just five times. Four of those, surprisingly, were committed by Bembry, undoubtedly the top player on the Hawks’ roster.
