After another valiant effort, the Delaware Blue Hens fell short of a road win at Towson, falling to the Tigers by a final score of 101-97 in overtime Saturday afternoon.

At First…
Towson came out firing in the early-going, quickly opening up a 20-9 lead over Delaware midway through the first half. While the Hens would trail by between six and nine for nearly the entire rest of the half, they ended up pulling within three at the break, 38-35.

Turning Point…
Things went all the way down to the wire between the Tigers and Blue Hens, with the game entering the final minute all tied up at 80. Delaware’s Marvin King-Davis would make two key free throws to put his team up 82-80, but thirty seconds later, when the lead was 83-81, he committed a costly foul that allowed William Adala Moto to force overtime from the free throw line.

In the extra period, the Hens hung tough but end up coming just short. Two Kory Holden free throws had Delaware within one in the final six seconds, as did two by Anthony Mosley with four seconds--Towson played the fouling game with a three-point lead in the waning moments--but those would be UD’s last points of the contest.

Shining Stars…
Holden and Mosley were beyond critical in keeping the Blue Hens alive, combining for a total of 61 points--Holden had 33, Mosley had 28. Holden was also a perfect 15-of-15 from the free throw line.

Towson’s Mike Morsell led the Tigers with 24 points, while snatching six boards and five assists. Neumann-Goretti alum John Davis also had 21 for Towson.

Noteworthy Numbers…
3: Three different Blue Hens fouled out--Barnett Harris, Marvin King-Davis, and Devonne Pinkard--leaving UD with just five players for the overtime period.

64: Delaware was able to find its stroke from long distance against Towson, making 9-of-14 threes for a mark of 64-percent. Towson, however, also shot the three ball well at a clip of 52-percent.
