MEMPHIS, Tenn.--A key road conference game slipped through the Temple Owls’ fingers as the Memphis Tigers were able to use a clutch final minute to escape with a win on their home court, by a final score of 67-65.

At First…
After opening up an 11-4 lead in the early-going, Temple cooled down and the Tigers were able to quickly close the gap; the remainder of the half stayed close for the most part. Temple would close the half with a short run to open up a 37-31 lead at the break.

Turning Point…
When the Owls quickly broke out to a 48-35 lead early in the second frame, it looked as though they’d roll to a road victory. Memphis had other plans, slowly chipping away to eventually tie the score at 63 in the final minute on two Shaq Goodwin free throws.

Temple was able to tie it with just two seconds to go on a Josh Brown layup, but a foul by Daniel Dingle on the following play sent Ricky Tarrant Jr. to the line for the game-winning foul shots.

Shining Stars…
Temple’s scoring was pretty balanced, with three different players--Jaylen Bond (14) Quenton DeCosey (13), and Josh Brown (15)--scoring just around fifteen points each. Bond also added 14 rebounds to earn a double-double

On the flip side, both Goodwin and Dedric Lawson had double-doubles for Memphis. Goodwin had 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Lawson scored 16 on top of 12 boards.

Noteworthy Numbers…
21: On a night where Temple got relatively even performances from their main scorers, it was the bench who had 21 points to keep the Owls in the game. Obi Enechionyia led the bench charge with eight points.

21 was also the difference in the amount of free throws shot between Memphis, who attempted thirty, and Temple, who attempted just nine the whole game. The Tigers’ extra chances at the stripe accounted for 23 of their points, while Temple sunk just five.

Up Next…
Temple (8-7, 3-2) vs. Cincinnati (Jan. 16, 12:00 p.m.)
Memphis (11-5, 2-1) vs. South Florida (Jan. 16, 12:00 p.m.)
