BRONX, N.Y.--Despite leading for the majority of the second half, the La Salle Explorers (4-8, 0-2 Atlantic 10) were unable to take care of business on the road against a talented Fordham Rams (10-3, 1-1 Atlantic 10) side, and fell by a final score of 66-61.

At First…
The first half kept it pretty close; neither team led by more than five. Fordham started off with the advantage, which reached its peak at 15-10 in the early-going, before La Salle answered to regain the lead with just under five minutes to go.

The Explorers would take that lead into the break, up 29-25 at halftime over the favored Rams.

Turning Point…
For the majority of the second half, it appeared as though the Explorers were in control, leading from the 15:00 mark to within the 4:00 mark. Fordham, however, gained a 58-56 lead at the 3:39 mark.

Ironically, that lead lasted for longer than three minutes, with neither team mustering a single point all the way to the 40-second mark; those points came from Fordham--three free throws to put the Rams up by five.

La Salle got it going in the final minute to stay alive, but it was their ice cold last three minutes that allowed Fordham to escape with its tenth win.

Shining Stars…
La Salle’s Jordan Price had an impressive night in the losing effort, dropping 21 points, playing all 40 minutes for the Explorers. Price also had eight rebounds and four assists.

As for Fordham, Ryan Rhoomes was the high scorer and largest impact player for either team, scoring 25 points, while hitting two of every three shots from the field. Rhoomes was also vital on the glass, ripping down eighteen boards.

Noteworthy Numbers…
Both teams were pretty dismal from the field; La Salle shot just 36-percent, while Fordham shot even worse, at 32-percent.

In terms of a size advantage, these teams couldn’t have been much more evenly matched, as the each scored 20 points in the paint. The Rams out-rebounded the Explorers 44-38, but also allowed 15 second-chance points to La Salle.

Up Next…
La Salle (4-8, 0-2) vs. no. 25 Dayton (Jan. 9, 2:00 p.m.)
Fordham (10-3, 1-1) vs. Richmond (Jan. 10, 2:00 p.m.)
