After spending the better part of the summer lighting up scoreboards across the Northeast region, Mikey Dixon found himself with a bevy of mid-major offers to sift through.

Dixon, who was a fringe Division I recruit before shooting from 5-foot-8 all the way 6-foot-2, ultimately picked up eight offers from across the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and Northeast Conference.

With school beginning and his senior season upcoming, Dixon has decided to wrap up his recruitment, committing to head coach Tom Moore and Quinnipiac.

“I felt like I was at home already,” Dixon told CoBL by text. “The players, coaching staff, everyone just showed me the love and took an interest in me.”

As of late July, Dixon had whittled things down to just Quinnipiac and Rider, both of the MAAC, eliminating schools such as Canisius, Fairfield, Central Connecticut State, and Robert Morris, among others.

Both schools were in to see him work out at Sanford School (Del.) since the live recruiting period began earlier this month, but he ultimately chose the Bobcats after his official visit to the school’s Hamden, Conn. campus.

After a strong season at Sanford playing alongside high-major backcourt recruit Eric Ayala-- who has since transferred to Putnam Science Academy (Conn.)-- Dixon’s recruitment really took off this summer, as he displayed his scoring prowess both on the AAU circuit with the Diamond State Titans and at individual showcase events.

Quinnipiac is coming off a 15-15 (9-11 MAAC) season, Moore’s eighth as the Bobcats’ head coach. Dixon is the program’s first commitment in the 2016 class.

CoBL will have more on this story shortly.
