After receiving his first Division I offer from St. Francis (Pa.) a couple of weeks ago, Downingtown West (Pa.) 6-foot-9 power forward Josh Warren is standing even taller.

Warren received the offer while attending a basketball camp held at the school's campus in late August.

He’s looking forward to taking his official visit to Loretto, Pa. on Sunday, but in the meantime, he is just relishing the offer.

"It's very exciting," Warren said. "Every high school player aspires to play D-I basketball and that's what I've been working towards."

St. Francis finished 16-16 last season, going 9-9 in the NEC. The Red Flash made it to the CIT, where they lost 67-64 in the opening round to Bowling Green.

Now that he has broken past the threshold, he hopes to add more Division I offers to his name.  Warren says that he has heard interest from Cornell and Delaware State. He has scheduled an official visit with Cornell on Sept. 17, and plans on doing an in-home visit with Delaware State.

"I'm just excited to meet everyone," Warren said about his upcoming visit to Cornell. "I'm looking forward to meeting the team and seeing the campus."

As for his D-II offers from West Chester, Pace, East Stroudsburg, and Philadelphia University, he has not forgotten about them. In fact, he recently visited West Chester and Philadelphia University.

"I'm leaving everything open at this point," Warren said. "I'm leaving it open to D-II and D-I."

Warren hopes to join teammate Ryan Betley, who has his college plans already set for Penn, in committing to a school soon. He expects to choose a school prior to his senior season.

"I'm definitely looking for a high academic school, but the biggest thing is how well I fit in," Warren said. "If I get along with the players, how I like the coaches, and how I fit into the system."

As for now, he is working on making himself a more versatile player. With his senior season and eventual step up to the college level on the horizon, he has been working on his skills at the perimeter to make him an all-around threat.

Downingtown West finished 24-6 last season, losing to Roman Catholic in the opening round of the PIAA Class AAAA state playoffs.
