The biggest need for Drexel's next recruiting class was a combination of size and scoring ability, and the Dragons got that with their first 2016 commitment.

Bishop McNamara (Md.) combo forward Sam Green became the first rising senior to pop for head coach Bruiser Flint and staff, making his decision public on Twitter on Saturday night.

"Sam's versatility as an inside-out scorer and very good rebounder allowed him to be attractive to college recruiters," Bishop McNamara head coach Marty Keithline told CoBL. "I am looking forward to a great senior season for Sam and watching him in the future at Drexel."

As a junior at Bishop McNamara, Green led Keithline's squad to a record of 18-11 and a top-ten Maryland state ranking. This summer, Green played with DC Thunder on the Adidas circuit, averaging 7.8 ppg and 2.8 rpg at the Adidas Uprising summer championship in Las Vegas during the last July live recruiting period.

Drexel already has a few promising young forwards in the program, including a pair of rising sophomores in Austin Williams and Tyshawn Miles, but they're both more pure back-to-the-basket bigs who are mostly going to provide defense and rebounding. Allen has a more developed face-up game that should allow him to stretch out to near the perimeter and be more of an offensive-minded combo forward, something the Dragons haven't had since Samme Givens a few years ago.

The Dragons are coming off a 13-18 year that saw them go 9-9 in the Colonial Athletic Association in Flint's 14th year as head coach.

With 12 players under scholarship this season and two set to graduate in wing Tavon Allen and forward Kazembe Abif, Flint and his staff have two more scholarships remaining to hand out for the 2016 class.

CoBL will have more on this story shortly
