One of the top area prospects is focusing in on where he’ll be going to school next year.

Roman Catholic (Pa.) point guard Tony Carr has picked his final 11 schools out of a list of offers that grew to more than 25 long.

Penn State, Maryland, Temple, Indiana, Georgetown, Pitt, Illinois, Providence, Miami, Memphis and Southern Methodist are still in the running, the 6-foot-4 point guard told CoBL. Carr is ranked in the top 60 nationally by ESPN and Rivals and in the top 40 by Scout.

Carr, who plays with Team Final on the AAU circuit, missed the first July live recruiting period with a hip injury he suffered during a summer league game. If he can return for the second or third periods this week and next, you can bet most of the above 11 schools will have coaches on hand at every game.

Earlier this summer, Carr and high school/AAU teammate Lamar Stevens indicated a strong desire to play with each other in college, and quite a few of their options are lining up. Stevens has told reporters he’ll be taking official visits to Pittsburgh and Indiana, as well as Marquette.

Temple, Maryland, SMU and Penn State are four other schools that have offered both that are very much in that mix as well.

There weren't any surprise omissions from Carr's final list. Indiana, Temple, Maryland and Penn State have been strong contenders for the guard for a while, even though the Terps already have a committed 2016 point guard in St. John's (D.C.)'s Anthony Cowan.

The others in the list are all high-major programs who have gotten to the NCAA Tournament in recent years.

Carr has connections at a few of his top schools: Penn State has one current Roman Catholic player on the roster in rising sophomore Shep Garner, and another of Carr and Stevens' classmates and AAU teammates committed in Nazeer Bostick. Temple has on its roster another Team Final product, Levan Alston, and Miami (Fl.) has rising sophomore Ja'Quan Newton, formerly of Team Final and Neumann-Goretti (Pa.).
