Now that the NBA Draft has concluded, the vaunted NBA Summer Leagues are just days away.

A handful of local Philadelphia basketball players have found their ways onto rosters of numerous NBA teams with the hopes of showcasing their talents in an effort to earn an invite to a team’s training camp.

The Orlando summer league will take place from July 4-10, the Utah Jazz summer league from July 6-9 and the Las Vegas league will take place from July 10-20.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, drafted in the late-first round by the Portland Trailblazers with the 23rd pick in the draft before being traded to the Brooklyn Nets, will play in either the Orlando or the Las Vegas league, if not both. Jefferson played his high school basketball at Chester High School and is best known for being a staunch defender and rim protector.

Penn State and Strawberry Mansion alum D.J. Newbill was signed by the Los Angeles Clippers to compete on their Orlando summer league team. Newbill went undrafted, but averaged 20.7 ppg in his final season at Penn State, and was viewed as fringe-second rounder in the draft.

Jabril Trawick starred at Abington Friends before playing out his college career at Georgetown, where he averaged 9.1 ppg in 27.9 mpg in his final year. Trawick went undrafted but will play on one of the two Orlando Magic summer league teams down in Orlando.

A pair of Villanova alumni will make their professional basketball debuts in the summer league as the undrafted JayVaughn Pinkston will lace up for the Brooklyn Nets summer league squad and Darrun Hilliard will play for the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons drafted Hilliard in the second round, with the 38th pick in the draft. The duo average 9.7 ppg and 14.3 ppg respectively as seniors.

Will Cummings (pictured above) of Temple University fame also went undrafted but was one of the first players signed to the Houston Rockets’ summer league team. Cummings was the heart of a Temple team that produced a 17-win turnaround from his junior year to his senior season. He averaged 14.8 ppg last season.

Rakeem Christmas, who was taken in the second round by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 36th pick, is expected to play for Cleveland's summer league team. He played his college ball at Syracuse after graduating from Academy of the New Church.

CoBL will update this story as additional players get signed
