The common theory surrounding yet another early exit from the NCAA Tournament for Villanova was that the Wildcats didn't have a good enough schedule to test themselves in the regular season.
They weren't prepared for an ACC team in the second round, resulting in a loss to NC State, many said.
Villanova is certainly making sure that theory holds no weight next year.
According to a report by CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein Tuesday evening, Villanova will start a home-and-home series with Virginia in December. The 2015-16 game will be in Charlottesville, Va., with the return game in Philadelphia the next season (2016-17).
Villanova and Virginia are both slated to be shoe-ins for the Top 15 to open the 2015-16 season after 30+-win seasons from both.
In addition to the Cavaliers, Villanova also has non-conference games against Oklahoma, Nebraska and any two of Stanford, Arkansas and Georgia Tech in the Preseason NIT. And, of course, the Wildcats have four games against their Big 5 rivals as well.
Virginia, which also lost in the Round of 32 to Michigan State, holds a 4-2 all-time series lead over Villanova. The teams haven't met since 2004, when Villanova topped UVA, 73-63.
