After finishing up a stellar senior year at Penn Wood High School, Addison “Josh” Scott has finally figured out where he’ll play his collegiate hoops at the next level.

The 6-foot-3 guard has committed to play at Arcadia University.

“It’s good to finally have it over with,” Scott said.

Scott’s 15.1 ppg, 4.9 rpg and 4.2 apg helped Penn Wood to a 17-5 record and a fifth seed in the PIAA District 1 Class AAAA playoffs, but an upset loss at the hands of 28th-seeded Penncrest dashed Penn Wood’s hopes at making a playoff run.

At Arcadia, Scott will join a recruiting class that features another area player in Souderton forward Evan Slone.

Scott said he chose Arcadia over interest from schools like Moravian, Chestnut Hill, Penn State-Harrisburg and West Chester.

“I have a really good relationship with coach [Justin] Scott, so I felt it would be a good place for me to accomplish what I want to accomplish,” Scott said.

Scott’s backcourt running mate at Penn Wood, scoring guard Malik Jackson, is a part of a talented recruiting class at West Chester.

Penn Wood coach Clyde Jones said that Jackson’s progression had a big impact in improving Scott’s game.

“Malik’s development shed some light on Josh,” Jones said.

Jones is also pretty confident that Scott will succeed at the Division III level, despite once having interest from schools at the D-1 and D-2 levels.

“He will make an impact as a freshman,” Jones said. “He’s shown flashes of mid-major play this past season. He put 30 [points] on Lonnie Walker and reading at a Hoop Group event in Reading. He had Delaware State and NJIT interested in the middle of the season because of their interest in Malik.

“I think if he becomes more consistent, he will have a definite impact at Arcadia.”
