The NBA D-League announced on Tuesday that it has named former Penn State guard Tim Frazier as its 2014-15 MVP and Rookie of the Year.

Frazier, who is currently on the roster for the Portland Trail Blazers, played for most of the season with D-League team the Maine Red Claws. He averaged 16.1 points and 7.1 rebounds in 41 games, and his 9.5 assists were good for second-best in the league. He also led the D-League with four triple-doubles, while tacking on 14 double-doubles for the Red Claws.

Frazier graduated from Penn State in 2014 after a stellar career with the Nittany Lions. He holds the record for most career assists at Penn State with 641, crushing the previous record of 600 held by Freddie Barnes (1989-92).

His senior season was cut short by after rupturing his Achilles just four games into the season. After being granted a medical redshirt, he led the Big Ten in assists per game with 5.4 as a fifth-year senior.

Frazier was called up to the NBA three times this past season. Two times were to the Philadelphia 76ers in February, when he was signed to two 10-day contracts. In his NBA debut for the 76ers, he dished out 11 assists, becoming just the fourth player to do so since 1985. Most recently, Frazier was called up to the Trail Blazers on March 30, with whom he currently plays for. Frazier's NBA career averages are 5.2 points, 5.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 11 games so far.

Frazier is just the second person ever to win both D-League MVP and Rookie of the Year after Devin Brown did the same in 2003.

Frazier and the Trail Blazers continue their playoff run tomorrow night at 8 p.m., as they look to overcome a 1-0 series deficit against the Memphis Grizzlies.
