Scouting Report

Overall: A lanky, athletic big man with a ton of upside, Deng is still very much at the beginning stages of his basketball journey, though he's showing signs of progress. Certainly more useful at this point on the defensive end of the court, where his 7-foot-some wingspan and good instincts make him a shot-blocking threat whenever any opponent attacks the rim. Offensively, his production is mostly limited to put-backs and dump-offs for layups and dunks; he will demand the ball in the post, but his hands are still a work in progress and his offensive moves are limited, without terrific feel on his hook shot. Division I coaches will jump on him for his size and ability to run the floor, but he could be a few more years before he's ready to be a consistently productive college player.
